Those extra connections helping out nicely.

I seem to be having an issue with all ISPs at the moment. I have an Openweb account as my primary, WebAfrica trial, Axxess trial and an Axxess account. All ISPs show decent speedtest results both locally and somewhat slower internationally, but no issues there.

But torrents on all accounts cannot attain more than 5kB/s on a 2MB line. What on earth is going on? It's never been like this before, and this is now happening at random times every day for the past two weeks...

Chuck the torrents, I know it shouldn't be like this but you'll save yourself a lot of headaches. If you need torrents get yourself a torrent box or something like put.io.

Oddly enough for me, torrents usually fly and http downloads take forever. Nowadays both are racing the good sloth race...

EDIT: tried zbigz and I get 30kB/s...:(

5 Connections sir

First off, blaaislaai, you are wrong.

Second, Dr, it is 20 connections! Pretty easy to max out your line while your account is on 3-5 stars all day long, on 2 starts afters and pretty good speed office hours, 1 star office hours you won't get max speed, but still will after hours.

Ah, interesting. I originally only had 2 connections. I am only using it to complement my international server but local is a lot quicker before 11pm so more connections the better!

Another oddity. I am downloading from zbigz and utorrent (same torrent) and both are going at the same speed they were. IOW, neither download slows the other down. And if I allow more than one torrent download then both torrents go at roughly the same shocking speed (max 15kB/s on both) and it too doesn't affect my http download.

Could it be that my exchange is congested and at certain times of day/night the net is basically ruined for me?

Oh, and I've tried and failed on numerous occasions to setup news servers. I'm just not cut out for them. They never, ever, ever work for me...

Running a speedtest while downloading also doesn't affect their transfer rates whatsoever and I get the same result as I did before, without any downloads happening. WTF?
