Kindly email [email protected] so that we can investigate for you

I'm on the 2MBS Gamers King Account and the highest download speed I've gotten today was 0.32mbs and upload was 0.39. Is this the sort of speeds I should expect with day-time shaping of the network?

Indeed you're not. On the last account I was using, I'd experience the lag you describe even when there was nothing going on around me, but no shot around big events like Teq.

On my current account I can at least roam a bit in PvE without lagging out, but still can't really take part in big events or WvW.

I've pretty much given up. I'll keep using this account since I can at least do something during the day, and I don't want to switch again and risk ending up with an account like the last one. If you have any joy, I'd love if you can share what ended up sorting it.

2Mbit/s GK here.

Kindly PM me the details so that I can add your information to the ticket we have logged for StevenC's problem.

We need a detailed description of the issue so that the senior engineers can replicate what you are seeing

For the third time, will my question ever get answered?

Oops, I didn't that you responded Mr Beep. Everybody seems to be complaining about slow speeds today so is the network really that slow today or is it individual errors?

Providing more information would also be more helpful than just giving an arbitrary speed. Most importantly, what are you gauging the speed with? Is it a local or international site? What does your latency look like?

I'm only trying to use Youtube, videos won't stream fluidly in 144p. I ran my speed test on Ookla.

Dear Forum Users...

Okay... This forum is clearly my last resort as I don't seem to get to the bottom of this issue. And my patience with Openweb is running out. Clearly someone is lying and I ask the community to help me clear this up.

Basicaly, I am an ADSL user like yourself, got 1MB line and use Openweb Uncapped product. 90% of the time I am happy with the product. However, in the last 14 days I began to experience heavy protocol prioritization and so called throttling as Youtube and Facebook took endlessly to load and could not stream Youtube at all. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a break. Maybe I just reached my softcap or something to do with the AUP. So at least I should know is how much do I use? Right?

I recall this one MyBB article found here... http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/83477-sas-biggest-adsl-bandwidth-hogs.html

So I sent an email to Openweb, I wanted to know how much of broadband do I consume a month. Based on the article they do monitor how much people consume. I get it. I don't have an issue with it. But what really aggravated me is that Openweb was quick to respond, I quote " We do not currently log bandwidth usage on our uncapped products as we feel it goes against the essence of what uncapped stands for :)" - Keoma Wright and " We do not log usage stats on uncapped accounts, therefore there is no log of your usage." - Charmaine Joubert.

So who is lying here, Openweb or MyBB?

There is no logging- you are shaped regardless of your usage patterns.

For a rough idea of your usage (apparently quite inaccurate) you can check here: http://users.isdsl.net/

That includes other users too, so its of zero use. Unless you can identify you own current session from the list...and that is only data use since your last connection drop.

Hi

Since this morning my adsl username and password say incorrect login, i know for a fact it's your ISP that is the issue as my old username and password still work, hence allowing me to contact you via the forum. I have tried no less than 16 phone calls to resolve my issue and both Precious and Mary are as useful as a lead balloon.

They refuse to escalate my calls, they refuse to let me speak to anyone like a tech support and for over an hour and 20 minutes i have waited for some idiot in your department to reset my username and password....................it's piss poor to be honest and your staff are wholly incompetent when it comes to customer care or client service.

90 minutes............on the phone to mary and precious who refuse to escalate the calls again.

2 hours and 30 minutes..................no response from openweb. Mary and Precious eventually agreed to put me through to anyone in management, the phones just went dead.

Not even Telkom was this bad..............can't wait to cancel my account and go elsewhere, this was the worst customer service i have ever received.

Openweb back to its glorious self. Full line speeds all day and my previous slow speeds actually had nothing to do with Openweb. All good here...

I thought as much. Do you know if they were doing work on your exchange?

Well, some of the issues were Openweb related, but it turns out the test account I was using was only valid until Wednesday last week. Switched back to my normal account and all is fine.

They are working on our exchanges in the area. In fact they've just built a new box up the road from me but it hasn't gone live yet. I don't know what it is though (DSLAM, MSAN etc). How would I tell? I asked a techie once and he didn't know - said he's just a support tech.

Oh, and they're laying down fibre all over the show here now...

Most likely an MSAN. Does it look like this:

Yes, that's exactly what it looks like. And it's about 150m from my house. I take it that's really good news for me...?

Possibly good news (well it's not bad news), but it's not a guarantee you will be connected to it. We have one also about 150-200m away from our office and was told we cannot get connected to it because the cabling from our building runs in the opposite direction and is connected to a DSLAM 3km's away.

It is awesome though if you do get connected, you are well aware of my 20Mbit at my flat :D

I know our cabling runs in that direction because the exchange I'm currently connected to is 3km in that same direction. We have absolutely no other exchanges in the area at all. As the crow flies to the current exchange, we'd go straight over the new one.

So here's hoping for a similar line to yours soon so that I can also piss people off in this thread every now and then...:D
