A page or few back there was reference to the IS usage tracker being inaccurate due to account sharing or duplication- something like that.

Could that have anything to do with our problems? EG, the accounts we're using are being shared on the sly?

I can never understand how OW support can always say my account is fine when it's clearly useless from my side...

Well AFAIK the IS Uage tracker tracks the pipe we use and since there are multiple users sharing a pipe it shows the overall usage. I think this is called contention (I stand open to correction) so I doubt the accounts are being shared but rather the contention is being pushed to the limit. As I am on Gold, I'd expect contention to not be this bad but... eh?

Accounts would break left, right and centre if this were the case as people change their passwords.

Hey Friends,

Engineers are aware of issues affecting some parts of the country and are attending.

We apologise for the inconvenience

Sorry for the delayed response, we are busy testing different service levels to see what could be causing the issue.

It is very difficult to replicate an issue like this, but we might be on the right track.

Finally some word. Thanks MrBEEP!

Contacted support. Leon said it's fine on his side and I should stop maxing my line out during shaping hours. Meanwhile I post this while tethered to my HTC One because web pages time out.... oh well.

this runs so contrary to mrbeeps philosophy though. it always appears as he wants you to download as much as you can. now the support staff are telling us to not max out our lines. why are they not singing off the same sheet. even more worrying that to be honest.

My experience exactly.

What was this migration? And why are we having to suffer for it?

My previous solution was to use the Telkom capped account, which is now uncapped (but slow) after hours. If that account overtakes OW in performance, what's the point in maintaining the OW accotun

I just wish there was more honesty and clarity on WTF is going on and when our internet will be restored to its former glory...

the mweb exodus has impacted us negatively. what is slow speedwise for that capped after hours?

past midnight for me on gamers king. and thats supposed to have prioritized downloading after hours. this crap started with the migration of all those users from the other isp - i dont believe in coincidences. there are capacity problems i suspect. open time was 5pm to 8am every night. fridays from 7pm till monday 8am. now you get shaped past midnight. shaped on weekends.

i miss the good old days. but my line is idle alot lately so im not feeling it so bad. streaming at night sucks as well. cant get full speed. next week for champs league will be a struggle again.

I'm rolling with an Afrihost capped account that I won for now. Afrihost also gave me 5gbs free 3g data but MTN's signal is only good in one part of the house. The unshaped weekends and nights are severely missed. Hope they return when OpenWeb gets their additional IPC. They've being kind enough all along with my hugely discounted package. I see Afrihost users are having similar issues on Uncapped internet.

Not only AH and OW, looks like most ISPs uncapped accounts are under stress. I wonder where the problem is lying?

Thanks for the update :) Hope we will have +3 days without shaping in a row someday :D

OK- just a thought. As MrBeep says, there's something very wrong now, so it's more evident. Even when this is fixed though, there's still something off/not quite right with my OW account...

I haven't checked- I try to keep within the 5GB for browsing etc so I get full speed during the day (where OW is unusable).

As it's month end though, it's close to depleted. I'll klap it and have a look-see at how it compares to OW. I'll probably run some speed tests and torrent checks at around 20:30 this evening. Perhaps some NNTP checks too if the results are interesting enough...

LOL - I knew this was going to happen at some point in time....

Just watched Patton Oswald on Youtube at 720p.

Edit: trying another one now. Not working as well. Just using about half speed (2Mbps).
