Hey flashfire,

Kindly PM me with your ADSL username and I will take a look for you?

Hi Beep, woke up this morning to no internet, router is giving a PPPoE authentication failure. Any ideas?

I've tried switching off the router for a long period, switch back on and video streaming is still not good today. The issue persists.

Hi Zodiak,

Kindly PM me with your ADSL username and details of the sites you are testing on.

Did that, then switched everything off, even pulled the telephone line from the wall and went to bed. Lets see if I can recreate the problem, then phoning Telscum, then calling in a ballistic missile strike.

Problem recreated - Telkom's bad service at play - a lot of static and background noise and no dial tone.

Working for now again.

Anyone else here seeing issues streaming from Revision 3 on a Roku 3?

I've been streaming it fine while I was with MWEB over the Unotelly DNS but with Openweb it streams the first second or 2 and then re-buffers. Eventually it ends up dropping the quality to 2 dots which looks crap. I've tried using the stock DNS servers but still no joy.

Yep, used to be able to get this is full HD, but lately just 2 dots and unwatchable.

Hi Friends,

Please email [email protected] with as much details as possible so that we can submit it to engineers for investigation.

We need to be able to re-create the issue.

Hello racer,

Kindly PM me so that we can investigate

I know that P2P ought to be shaped during business hours, but not giving me at the very least 3kbps down is horrendous service.

I guess I will have to wait until 6pm to watch the final episode of Breaking Bad.

When I signed up, Openweb gave atleast 30kbps down on a 1 meg line. Speedtest is fine, getting 0.7M down and 0.25 UP but lets shape the hell out of utorrent why don't we?

The openweb experience

Right, so joined MyBB finally after reading it for years, but unfortunately just to have a moan.

As background, i was a mweb customer for the last 18 months, all was going fantastically until i was throttled like many were last month on a 1mbit account and so immediately cancelled and moved to openweb.

Well 2 weeks into my openweb experience and i have now just sent my cancellation request through. the 1mb gold "leon" edition account has been terrible. for more money than mweb i definitely receive less. the IS news server is shaped badly during the day, i get 8kb/s. This is useless for a local server. if i add the xsusenet account to go at the same time i get a total of 10kb/s. it slowly gets better from 5-6pm.
Torrents are even worse than this, that should be expected probably, but then what use is this gold edition?
Even browsing has been below par, 1 day with nothing working and during other days it is definitely not full speed. Upon submitting a ticket i got my port reset a couple of times with very little improvement.
Weekends are full speed.

To their credit the support is excellent and i received feedback very quickly. I wrote a very similar email to the above on friday asking if the past week was a typical one for openweb, thinking they may have had issues, but did not receive a direct answer and was referred to the cancellations department (by Leon ironically).

So now im stuck with a mweb account and a openweb account for october and on to another isp in november.

That is my experience. i hope this helps other people who are considering an openweb gold account for local news groups during the day to go elsewhere. where exactly that is seems to be afrihost but time will tell.

Cheers

Hey Mr Beep,

Is it normal for YouTube to be streaming at 10kb/s? It's being like this since 9am. Switching off router for 20mins didn't help either :(

I need to be reminded about why I pay for "Gold"

I understand shaping, but on your Jesus tier product @ 10Mbs?

I have to say I'm toying with the option to cancel as well.

I understand the need to shape, but don't shape in a way that kills the entire experience.

Maybe Afrihost's turn has come...... who knows?

If MrBeep can provide assurances thata notable improvement is imminent then kudos, if not, I'm not slumming it below 10Kbps
