Is there any way I can get my account temporarily upgraded to 10Mbps for the next couple of days to test? If I'm happy with the performance I'll upgrade my 6Mb account to 10. Possible BEEP?

Hi feo,

I would suggest you rather request a trial account so that you can test.

You can do so by emailing [email protected]

Hey Friends,

We require 2 x Mikrotik experts to assist us with the testing of a new product.

Could you please email me: [email protected]

The first two experts (must have advanced knowledge) will be selected :)

Thanks alot

Mr Beep,

YouTube and other streaming services are maxing out at 60Kb/s all week during peak times. Is this normal for 1mbs account?

It used to work full speed during peak times until 2 weeks ago.

Hi Fox,

We do not guarantee an upper level on these protocols, but it must however work.

As long as it works (during peak), the system is doing its job

Yeah it is working indeed unlike last week :)

Dearest MrBEEP:

I'm having a bit of a frustrating time here. We have a 10mb Gamer King account at work (we generally only need browsing and email during the day, and streaming after hours), and daytime speeds have been a bit poor in the last week or two, but on Tuesday international connectivity completely died. Leon was kind enough to supply us with an alternative account (a complimentary Platinum account) for a day or two.

This morning, the temporary Platinum account virtually died. All speeds dramatically dropped to between 15kBps - 50kBps, and the overall experience became completely unusable. I assumed it may be because the account was disabled (being temporary and all), so we reverted to our original 10mb Gamer King account, but unfortunately it is still in the state it was on Tuesday (very slow, and zero international connectivity).

We are now using a capped Afrihost account because neither of the two accounts provided are working properly. I have emailed Leon ([email protected]) but have not had a reply as yet.

Please help! I don't want to have to cancel! When the account works properly its beautiful, but lately we've been experiencing more frowns than smiles :(

And now international is dead on my side. Posting from another ISP account now :(

MrBeep

I signed up for one of the Gamer King accounts, today marks the 7th day of use on the account and I can barely open a webpage at this point.

I have already submitted a support ticket but now I am worried, having to submit support tickets a week after an account is activated does not exactly instil confidence that in future everything will be peachy

On a side note my 1GB account did not perform much better but an account from another ISP worked perfectly making me rule out an issue on my side.

Hi Friends,

Something seems to be faulty on the network side.

Engineers are attending, as things started becoming weird suddenly.

Thought something was up. Performance had been incredible until this morning. Reset my router and things are back to more than fantastic!

Edit: Well yea, turned it off for 15-20 minutes and it went from not being able to even start any youtube videos to being able to stream properly :D

If you are experiencing a problem, try switching off your router for 20 minutes then back on and try again

Port reset by support fixed things on my side.

Seems like September-November is when the weirdness sets in.

Wow, my OpenWeb is so slow I can't even open the SpeedTest site. I joined on the 15th of September because of slow MWEB speeds, but I should have remained with them, it was a lost faster (and cheaper!) than OpenWeb.

I'm rather disappointed, the so-called Gold package is a dismal affair.

UPDATE:

Got the SpeedTest site to open, when it runs, my internet is at full speed. Yet, when I open anything else, it slows to 10KiB/s according to my network monitor. Interesting way to shape traffic, and totally misleading.

UPDATE AFTER UPDATE:

The OpenWeb staff are friendly and respond quickly to questions, however, my service speeds have been disrupted and intermittent since I joined on the 15th of September 2013. Overall, I can't fault OpenWeb for poor customer service, but I also can't say I'm happy to be on their network. I'm rather disappointed and have decided to rather try a different ISP, I expected that by paying more for the same service, I'd have a better experience.

Hello,

Kindly PM me so that I can take a look.

I also seem to be experiencing the same slownessness. Pretty much the entire day, anything international just doesn't work smoothly.
Youtube takes almost a minute to buffer a few seconds. Dropbox wouldn't load completely so couldn't upload. But every local works instantly.

Can you please switch off your router for 20 minutes then back on.

There was a fault earlier today which has now been resolved

Will calling Telkom and asking them to "refresh my port" fix this issue as well? Just curious.
Not that I want to call them again, those "tunes" of theirs burn holes into my ears.
Will report back in 20!
