I run a business from home and the net has been working fine until recently. I feel that Gold should provide better service than the standard or silver. It doesn't have to be completely unshaped but a line running at 20% speed seems really low value.
At the moment there is an Afrihost UNSHAPED and uncapped account for R 50 more than the Gold Openweb account. If I have to pay R 50 to get decent daytime speeds I will but as I've been with Openweb for about three years I would like to give them a chance to come to me with a different solution.
If their solution is, like yours, suck it and leave then hey that's cool.

Awesome stuff from openweb!! Last night I got confirmation that my account will be cancelled at the end of November now today I get an e-mail it will only expire end of December?????

Why is it that if you test your speed with other ISP's it stays mostly constant??
The proof is in the pudding. I have personally seen pretty bad speedtest results, while at the same time not having a bad experience at all. Multiple times and even the opposite as well.Just look how inconsistent the speeds is that I am receiving.

MrBeep has stated in the past that he does not prioritise speedtests and even asked us here if we would prefer him to do so. Most said no. The thing is that if he does that, it takes away bandwidth from the rest of the network and it is not necessarily an accurate test in any case. Other ISPs prioritise speedtests, which can give misleading results. Speedtests don't test all the protocols.
If you want to test your account, do stuff with it. If you are having issues, PM MrBeep so he can take a look. If he is unable to recreate the issue, then it is most likely a Telkom problem or something else.

Can I please get a test account? My account has been offline since yesterday. I found out earlier that they can't find my debit order, the money was taken off my account on the 31st. I know the guys there are looking into the problem, but I need an account to use in the meantime.
Me too, and this is the response I get from openweb:
"This network does not offer access to the IS News Server. You can however use a Free service such as: http://www.teranews.com"
What a load of bull!! "Gamers king downloaders bling" - whats next - "sorry no access to torrents".

what does that mean exactly? are they blocking access to the IS news server now?
You have been moved to an alternate network due to the issues you were having on the main network. We believe the routing from your exchange to the new network will resolve your issue, therefore we have moved you. You have access to thousands of News Servers across the world, including millions of torrents. The only server you do not have access to on the new network is the IS News Server.
Because the new network is not on IS, you will unfortunately not have access to the IS News Server.
We will be more than happy to move you back to the IS network if this is a problem.

Just noticed the change in uncapped pricing and packages. Looks like OW is following the free upgrade trend?

I am not having issues. You are having issues giving me an account that works.
I have had 4 different logins in the past month, and all worked nicely for about 4 days, then fell flat, 5mins to open a web page. Please Mr beep, come clean and tell us what the problem is.
Please can I have the account all the other happy people have, and access to the IS news server, and please, please (beg) can at least open a web page during the day if that is not too much trouble. Thank You, Thank You.
