Those are some harsh words. Surely we provide more value than just unshaped weekends?

I would like to think our service is pretty good based on the ratings we receive from our clients.

If it weren't for unshaped weekends and after hours unshaped, there would be no point sticking with Openweb.

I was afraid of that, just had them here last week to replace a line, all was great, now it's gone to **** again.

I'm afraid you would need to call our friends over at Telkom.

OpenWeb is flying right now.

Anyone know the number for Telkom? Their website won't load. (I promise to write it down this time :P)

10210. Also where are you located? If you are in the Cape your line issues may be due to the weather, nonetheless you should still phone them.

Can you also post a traceroute here?

I had a Telkom issue during the week. I reported it via the website and had it sorted the next day. They also have an SMS reporting system. They even phoned me to make sure everything was working properly again. :wtf: No need to sit on the phone for half an hour.

Ja, that's definitely Telkom.

Last week and today they have answered the phone rather quick. I also like to tell them to reset the exchange as that has usually fixed 80% of my problems :) Just waiting till monday for a fix kind of sucks, now I have to go out drinking instead of playing games :P

Greetings forumites,
Do you guys think this speed is adequate for 2mb Gold account?

Hi Mr Beep.

Is there a problem from the cape town side ?
This week I noticed day time speeds have gone down the drain cant even use the account anymore, but doesn't really bother me as I use it mostly after hours.
However lately it seems that my bandwidth is cut by half than I am used to getting.
I am in cape town, speeds locally seem great but as soon as it becomes regional or international its like I am throttled to half my line speed. If I use my spare Telkom or Afrihost accounts i don't have this issue.

I am on a 10 meg line, and here are the speed tests.
If i use a download manager my speed is also capped at 5mb even though its using multiple threads.

Why is speeds fine for cape town, but half anywhere else and only on my OpenWeb account ? it never used to be like this.

Hope it comes right, I miss my true line speed on international especially when it comes to streaming.

Regards.

Any shaping currently MrBeep? Updating the swtor bete for the starfighter test was crawling at under 100kbs, switching to afrihost and it goes at 1000kbs. This is on a 10mbs line.

No shaping at all. MrBeep announced it yesterday that it will be an unshaped weekend :)

Ja it's pretty good... 1.6mbps = ~200kBits/s. You will never achieve the full 256kBit/s.

As a rule of thumb, I want 2megabits (linespeed) devided by 10, instead of 8, to compensate for network overhead. (I could be wrong here on higher line speeds... never went 10mbits or beyond)

The real test however comes if you can actually download something at that speed... Speettest results can be a little skewed.
