We do hope you are enjoying the OpenWeb Unshaped weekend?

This week was a very interesting one on the OpenWeb front. We welcomed back many clients that left OpenWeb for the cheap pricing offered by some of our competitors. Needless to say, they are VERY happy to be back :)

Welcome back to the family guys!

No shaping, yeah right... I've been having slow internet all weekend.

4096kbps gamers king

I have this - a bit slow during the day due to business accounts getting priority, but lekker in the evening and weekends ....

That aside, no throttling worries, no bad attitude, no issues generally......

MrBEEP: Can you check out my account please? I'm on a 2Mbps Gold.

Can't stream Youtube vids on 360p right now, it stops to buffer every few seconds.

Last night I was watching 720p vids with minimal buffering.

Thanks.

That has been my experience... Back 2011 when I went to MWEB, I could see the difference between the business account at work, and the normal consumer grade one at home.

I am quite used to the fact that the internet could not be used at home for torrents during the day, and besides, as mentioned, its a risk.. I did that, and came home to find everything destroyed by the lightning, it cost me over R10k to replace everything, not to mention the data I lost forever.

I used to get up at 4AM to do some torrents, because by 8AM on a standard MWEB 4096kbps uncapped, as 8 rolled around the speeds would go south very quickly.

MrBEEP did the necessary last night, so this morning I was able to switch over to my proper account, and I can assure you, the whole experience, matches that of what we now have at work (optic fiber directly into IS)

They can shape torrents for me during working hours, then I would have one less distraction and get some work done.

Does anyone know whether the price for the Openweb gold account will come down as well now that telkom have given us a speed boost?

Hi FrankyF,

I have replied to your PM :)

Loving it!

Current download speed from Youtube = 220kbytes/sec peak. Am streaming in HD without buffering.
Somewhat better than MWEB.

Can someone please assist with maybe resetting my account? I am currently not getting full dl speed...

It is always a good idea to allow our support channels to perform their duties.

I always say posting here should be a last resort if our support could not assist you in a favourable manner.

Okay so right now its considered "business hours".
Everything works!!!! Streaming Youtube at 720p
I am downloading a torrent too... 101.9kbyte/sec  This is the absolute max I can reach today, it would then appear that the combined total of torrents cannot exceed 100kbyte/sec which is pretty OK by me. I can run a business on that. At this time of day I was experiencing WORSE shaping with MWEB.

So let me guess... we have people in this thread moaning and blaming the ISP because the DSLAM/MSAM is poked, and/or the exchange is congested and/or due to the recent rains we've had the cables are wet.

This is good enough for me. I am saving money and scoring. Case closed

OW running like a rabid dog again. not making this easy. well done to Beepie and the team.

Very bad access over here since 8pm yesterday. Support emailed and Leon is helping me out.
Anyone else having issues?

Speedtest shows full speed for me, but my browsing is soooo slow, half of websites simply time out, youtube is not even buffering.
Somehow I don't think it is my DSLAM or EXCHANGE. Will wait for an hour and see.
EDIT: Torrents are running fine, tracert gives me +-170ms to int. sites like bbc and such, but browsing is still DEAD

You know... I used to have that with Cybersmart... and iBurst.
Which DNS servers are you using... I picked up an issue with DNS when I got the trial account... one of my devices struggled to connect to its home site for firmware upgrade... I had to change the DNS servers on several devices...
I am currently using the IS ones which work fine for me.

BBC loads fine this side.
