That doesn't sound right... I change to Afrihost or (even worse!) a MWEB account and it works with no issues, full speeds etc.

I change to OpenWeb and I have issues... honestly? Telkom / router fault? Nah boet.

The line is running nicely today, please keep it that way... all downloads I'm doing are Free to play games that I'm keen to play! :D
 
I'm afraid it is very difficult for me to make a diagnosis without any information.

Unfortunately this 'boet' will only be able to assist once you PM him.

So now that speedtest is not of the opinion that I am on an MWEB IP

I have had no joy since I moved to Openweb... I am throttled almost all the time and can barely browse and can never download anything more than a few MB. I mailed support a good few times, they "reset" my account, gave me alternative log in details, etc. but it's so slow and frustrating I rather use my phone and 3G/H+ for browsing, e-mails and even youtube.
I have now cancelled as they can't seem to assist me, busy looking at other isps trying to decide where to move. I left MWEB because they throttled me for abuse (I only use a laptop so if and when I download it's only in the evening), tried Openweb and its even worse than when MWEB was squeezing my traffic through a pin hole.

Trying to decide on Afrihost or Cybersmart or if I should just go back to Telkom....

I am so damn sick of this...

My account slows down to a CRAWL, then disconnects and it WILL NOT reconnect it has been over an hour!

Last time they had to change my password then they blamed telkom/router. Let me now put it straight you are LYING it is your damn accounts that are broken it is time to fix IT! :mad:

Hilariously the accounts I have saved from openweb, the trail accounts etc etc all connect and work! I do have a strange feeling somewhere someone (or maybe thousands of people) has had a free openweb plat trail account and been raping all the bandwidth! :erm:

Seems a little incompetent if you ask me and the icing on top? I have to email them that my account is not working when my internet dies. Can't believe I am stuck with this *************** for January also...
 
Same here at one point ill get full 4meg speeds and then all of a sudden it just drops to dial-up. I then need to reboot my router in order to get it to work again the internet light then turns RED for almost 30 min and then decides to re-authenticate. Afrihost works like a dream but their torrents don't work at all.

And I see they are again selling their "Limited Edition" packages to the unsuspecting MWEB and other refugees out there. If they at least are open about what you can expect then fair enough, but you get the idea you are getting a decent product when you are actually not getting one.

Sadly there are few options so we are stuck with this I guess ...

To be honest all ISP'S are rubbish in this country. They want you to pay R99999999999 for decent internet. #TheSouthAfricanWay
 
I myself was utterly outraged at a point toward OW as well but i must say after i sent an email to [email protected] last night, my internet couldn't be better. It's the fastest this internet line has ever performed, so im not complaining at all :D

Thanks to OW for fixing up my internet again, much appreciated.
 
@shadowstalker - Glad for you and at the moment my OW connection/account is flying and I am grateful for that but I had to go through the list of accounts I received from them to find one that works/still works and surely that should not be the way to go ...

But it is working now so :D
 
I wonder is the open web support staff on holiday? I can still not connect to my account and I've not gotten a reply from support yet.

Had the same experience last week and decided to cancel my account with OW, now I just need to ride it out for the rest of this month and next month due to the calendars month notice :o

At the moment, I also cannot connect (Problem started again from 18:30pm today).

@chickenbeef .. Same here .. actually I already cancelled in the "free" week that I joined since the account was broken on day 2 already and I went through dozens of calls to Support over the first few days and looking at this forum made it an fairly easy yet unfortunate call. Still paying for two ISP's which sucks. So while this account works am going to try to get my money's worth through the rest of December ...

I see that they have been trying to get to the root cause of the matter which took quite some time.

I wonder is the open web support staff on holiday? I can still not connect to my account and I've not gotten a reply from support yet.
