My problem is I have been emailing support (Dane) backwards and forwards and changing accounts constantly with very little success it would seem. I know 110% sure that it is not my Exchange and Telkom line because my Web Africa prepaid account is flying so it is definitely something with IS & me...

Should count yourself lucky to be getting a reply from support, I have no internet access from the morning. Two emails to support, a post here and still no reply from openweb. Nearly 14:00 and no internet for me sigh

Even though the web page says the network status is green maybe it should be red? Or in your case support should be red ;). I have not had a response yet either from here or email today I was talking about last month and a couple of days ago.

ALL support tickets have been cleared.

Kindly PM me with the details of your issue

Shaping only started again on Thursday.

Before this, no shaping was applied from 15 December. Therefore, if you were experiencing slow speeds during this time, it is more than likely a Telkom or router fault

Started experiencing slow speeds (browsing + streaming) last night, but did not make much of it, but it's more of the same today. Been running speedtest multiple times to JHB, Int and CPT servers and constantly getting around 400kbps and it's evident when browsing/streaming.

Generally happy with the service I'm getting and this "slow down" (or perhaps shaping) is the first I've experienced in 3 or 4 weeks.

Will send mail to support if the problem persists.

Leon gave me new access details about 10 mins ago and all is good, took a while to get sorted but glad im back up and running:)

Hey Guys

Quick heads up.

There is currently a fault on the @mynetwork.co.za network.

Engineers are working on it and should have all sorted asap!

Just a thought but shouldn't you guys change your network status then? Or at least provide a clickable link for us to see which networks are working and which are not? It's a bit misleading seeing a green light next to network status when in fact one part of your network is down.

I have been in contact with support about slow speed and not once did anybody say anything about a fault....

Ok guys, we shopping for a new ISP. Average use per month on a 2 meg line we have been doing is between 100 and 180gigs a month. On golden happy days we touch 220k speeds for downloads - don't even ask what the kuk bad days are like. Anyway, would Open Web be good to us on a 2meg line everyday uncapped account?

Is the grass greener?

Oh, also is there any star system? If so, are the rules spelt out clearly and updated regularly?
Many thanks.
Brad

no usage limits, no star system. business hours are heavily shaped though for downloading. if you can live with that then its fine. browsing and other stuff works business hours though.

I suspected that the lag was due to shaping and network adjusting to the load, was just surprised to see the severe shaping on the Gold account. It's running full steam now.

Hey Friends,

The fault has been resolved :)

Thank you for your patience

There I was minding my own business when suddenly my line went thoroughly down.

Thing is, it's down in a rather curious manner:

ICMP traceroute traffic (to a degree) does seem to be routed as seen here:

tau:~ $ traceroute -n 8.8.8.8
traceroute to 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets
1 196.210.201.1 16.067 ms 17.882 ms 17.800 ms
2 * * *
3 * * *
4 168.209.6.13 17.112 ms * *
5 168.209.100.213 36.544 ms * *
6 168.209.1.179 39.334 ms
196.26.0.130 42.119 ms *
7 74.125.49.66 35.518 ms * *
8 66.249.95.8 218.825 ms * *
9 209.85.253.196 184.172 ms * *
10 72.14.242.166 188.206 ms
66.249.95.173 186.446 ms *
11 72.14.238.215 193.520 ms
72.14.238.41 191.070 ms
216.239.49.45 187.635 ms
12 * * *
13 * * *
14 * * *

ICMP pings, on the other hand, are dying horribly after 196.210.201.1 with only the (very occasional) packet making it through.

Most curiously, traffic _is_ being routed normally for about 10 seconds after my router restarts before dying horribly once more.

Any thoughts as to what is going on? It really would be rather nice to have connectivity restored very soon as I have a few very important things I still need to do today that were rather rudely interrupted by this event.

Oh it works now, if I can call it that, was fine for 20 minutes and now I am throttled to 2 Megs. On a 40meg account. And yest I PAY for a 40 Meg account.
