Normal now...

So we can probably deduce new shaping policy cripples the account from 08:00 to 23:00.

Would have been nice to have been informed that my account isn't the same now.

So previously I'd get 200kb/s during the day on my 6Meg account, now I get 50kb/s.

No you can't.

At 17h00 my Torrent instantly went from 50kBps to over 400kBps. The rest was running fine the whole day. If you have problems, it has to be related to your specific set of circumstances, which include your local exchange, Telkom line faults or problems with your account.

You make deductions based on very little information it seems?

We havent changed the shaping of our products in over 2 years.

Shaping is dyanmic based on how busy the network is at any given time

First post, but i thought i'll skip the introductions and come straight here. :)

After a long wait I eventualy got ADSL, nothing fancy and laanie like a 4 or 10mb line, just a simple 1mb will do me fine, tested ISP left right and centre.

Went with a Gamers King 1mb package, and so far im very happy with my choice, and over the moon with the after service, night times downloads are very decent for a 1mb line, but more important in my quest to get some diamond action in BLOPS II is the super sweet pings im getting, nothing higher than 50 on most occasions, unless the host starts up his torrents while playing of course.

Had a small brain burp when the debit order went belly up over the weekend, sent Charmaine a proof of payment, and confirmed account as paid, subsequently got cut last night and after mailing admin@ got a reponse from Leon saying im in arrears, i replied sending proof of payment and convo with Charmaine, and all is resolved without any hassles (not blaming Charmaine or Leon as this was my error) but the speedy recovery and friendliness is top drawer, something that is hard to find in ANY sector these days.

So short answer for this OldNooB, i would like to compliment MrBeep, Leon and Charmaine for really great service and a good product overall.

Only one problem, im typing this at work, and would much rather be at home getting my game on.

Just a minor querie if there were any issues yesterday? had my connection reset itself a few times when i was home last night. could be hardware i guess. otherwise, grinning ear to ear with gamers/download account.

I kinda feel bad pulling 95GB already since the month just started.....

Why do you feel bad? You pay every month :) What speed line do you have?
I'm close behind you, 80gigs since the start of the month on 2Mbps line.
Your money, your usage!Openweb tolerates us...:)

Looking at Mweb back in the day when they kick started the uncapped revolution. Masses joined them ( me included ) and we experienced unrivaled online freedom.

Today, it seems that they are so oversubscribed, and there seems to be many many unhappy MWEB customers out there. This obviously makes people look at alternatives, and your offerings are definitely value for money.

Now, I truly hope you guys don't follow the same route as Mweb by oversubscribing your accounts so much that we eventually see a decline in overall performance as time goes by. By gaining a lot of new customers ( just like they did back then ), I hope you also acquire more capacity as needed to keep us all sailing smoothly in the www ocean!

So, what I'm trying to say is : Just stay AWESOME ! OK ? Don't bail on us !

Thanks

I have made some changed to the profile you are using. It shouldnt be that slow

live streams working much better today. thanks.

EDIT: But still not as well as on my backup account. So there is still some throttling of the streams, although not as bad as it has been the past week.

I doubt this would happen. OW has been offering very much the same quality products even when Mweb started their onslaught of ADSL price slashing. Consistency is what you are talking about, and i can vouch for OW on that score. From when i was first with OW, there was excellent quality product and service at a good price, and that level has remained as far as what i have experienced. Being back with OW now has cemented this. Keep up the excellence OW.

Have you connected with your upgraded account?

yes, it seem better now. did not had chance to test it as i just got to my pc. but last night its was bad :( current download speed 163kb/s... better than 50kb/s...

thanks MrBeep, i'll keep you up to date...

i see in my control panel there's no active pacakage?

Hi Friends,

It is unfortunate that one user hiding behind a MyBB nickname is allowed to spread so many untruths about a company without being stopped. OpenWeb is not, and will not be oversubscribed, ever. Our service level will not drop. If we drop the ball, we will apologise, fix it, and move forward.

It is through your loyalty we have tried to maintain the high level of service you have become accustomed to. I believe we have succeeded, and will continue to strive for only the best.

/end marketing fluff

begin MrBEEPs words

I will always fight for real change in the broadband arena, as I have been doing since OpenWeb started. Many might not know how OpenWeb came about, it would be an interesting topic to Google.

Oversubscribing is not, and will never be an option.

mrBeep, I hope you are not referring to me ? I did not spread untruths. I was actually complimenting your company.

I do apologize if my comments were misinterpreted.

Jeez I feel really offended now.

Hear, hear! Some nice reassuring words. Can't wait to get home from work and fire that Gamers King account up :D
