Is something wrong or is this the usual on a 10mb gold uncapped line? Something better be wrong!

Omnicience looks like something is wrong tonight:cry:

Pop support an email they will look into it.

Just for comparison I just swapped to an Mweb 10mb uncapped line to see the difference

These tests are in the accpetable range for me, the London test is actually very fast for international bandwidth.

I changed to Openweb because they have better high port shaping policies so I hope that tomorrow this can be resolved!

Is it me or have torrents just died this evening?
Line speed is normal, latency is fine, just torrents are a no go
Even to London speeds and latency are decent. Just the torrents that are showing me the middle finger

Torrent performance definitely not good past two days. Currently getting around 10-15% line speed on my 1mb Gold account after 11pm :(

Im getting roughly 80kb per second on my torrent downloads at the moment. Not sure if this is good or bad for a 10mb adsl line. When i use my wireless 1mb connection i get usually about 50-120kb per sec.

Hi Friends,

There does seem to be a fault in the Western Cape area again tonight. Engineers have been notified.

We do apologise for the inconvenience.

How come it's always in the Western Cape? IS or whoever the fault originates from needs to do some upgrading in the western cape

There seems to have been a problem in JHB also last night, Openweb was crawling. Back to normal this morning.

Test conducted on 5/15/2013 12:19:43 AM

Download Speed: 1337 kbps (167.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 813 kbps (101.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 72 ms

10Mbps ADSL...? This is the first time I have been home in a while, is this how the shaping looks during the day?

That is true dedication at 12:30AM. No other ISP can beat this customer support.

Thanks MrBEEP:D

anyone else here with a 10mb line mind doing a local speed test and telling me what you get?

We are busy testing your account and will forward the results shortly.

I have a general question, it seems that the last couple of months that ADSL is very unstable. Across ISPs and regions there is lots of complaints about speed issues. Line speeds fluctuate, things will work perfectly, and then it just drops. Then 10 minutes later all back to normal. Is there reason for this? Timing suggest that it started about the same time as Telkom's upgrades. Or is it that growth pains? Interested in seeing the causes of error stats for the last couple of months.

Many of the issues are Telkom related.

Their network really is suffering, as they did not forecast the events of such a massive upgrade.

Yeah, it would seem that speed in general is suffering badly. Even creating this post has been a bit of a nightmare....

Lets see what happens later on today. Hopefully MrBeep has good news.
