Kindly PM me with your ADSL username. I will take a look for you

Having the exact same issue as everybody else. International extremely slow during the day (HTTP downloads at 5kb/s. Takes 5-10 minutes to load images. A few minutes to load a website. 5 minutes to load GMail. Gaming has packet loss. High pings). Basically the internet is unusable during the day. Then between 5 and 6PM it goes to full speed. I expect shaping during the day, but not extreme throttling (Especially on Gold Uncapped).

Was local access also slow? Was international uploads affected? I could upload at full speed but had lots of errors. Got new temporary account to try, going to use it now, hope it's better.

Yes, I even struggled to load Openweb's own website. Most sites that did open didn't load the pics. But I guess as per Openweb it is my routers fault

I have a 10mb Gamer King account at home (Durban Morningside exchange - IP 196.210.130.x), and 4mb Gold Leon at work (Durban North exchange - IP 196.210.125.x). Daytime browsing is fast! Downloads (p2p / NNTP / http) are shaped to around 40% - 60% line speed, and daytime YouTube is almost full speed.

The only thing I can think of that could cause bad daytime speeds for some of you guys would be congested exchange problems. Perhaps you guys should post what area/exchange you are connected to (and also which backbone your account is on) for comparison's sake?

I am currently connected to your account sending this PM. I will personally be using it for the rest of the day.

So far so good.

Hi, yes today it performs like I expect it. I was referring to yesterday, not today specifically.

Thanks

Just another thing that hasn't been answered yet (feel free to ask me to have a separate thread, but I believe the answer will benefit all that has issues)

In my case where the service was significantly different from the one gold account to the next (2mb vs 4mb), how do I determine whether it is the router or telkom or the account? The route I took was to use the capped account for comparison, which appears to have its flaws for comparing to an uncapped account.

This is quite difficult to determine. We work on a trial and error basis, going through each troubleshooting step to get you back up and running asap.

Unfortunately there is no easy way of determining this, as Telkom does not provide us with any tools unless we manage your line

Once Telkom sorts themselves out. We have a few conditions that we have applied to their offering, and cannot proceed until these are met.

We are hoping very soon though, as this is a TOP priority and will make support alot easier.

Speaking of which...any idea when this is set to happen?

Good to know, thanks.

International is trickling. I've been waiting for Google Images for 3 minutes and it suddenly lost its CCS.... Not my line because Afrihost works. I think my account is being shaped to hell, even for a Gamers King account.

Same with my Gamers account this week. Openweb has been really crap lately with all the shaping. I can't even load my Gmail account to check my mail.

Firstly my absolute thanks to openweb and having me on for a week to do as I please. Really 20 mins later on a public holiday and I was good to do. WOW! Really WOW!.

After one week on gold orange 6mbs uncapped trial:

All of these was tested after hours, I can't say how they would fair in business hours hence the throughput test I did last night until it stopped today at about 4pm...

for the speedtests.net and testmy.net I'm really sorry not to have saved the links for a nice representation of what I'm taking about.

using VPN PPTP/L2TP connected to a london node:
  • Streaming - 400-600k/B using various sources.
  • Speedtest.net - 3-5 Mbps.
  • testmy.net - 1.6 Mbps (This is single thread max speed).
  • International - surfing was really good.
  • Local surfing - was surprisingly good (like in fast) taking inconsideration that I was working through a vpn.

using VPN SSTP/Other "strong" connected to a london node:
  • Streaming - 100-200k/B using various sources (slower due to stronger encryption and overhead)
  • Speedtest.net - 1.35 Mbps (slower due to stronger encryption and overhead).
  • testmy.net - forgot to do them
  • International/Local surfing - was ok, but since it was SSTP slower experience is to be expected.

normal no vpn
  • Streaming - forgot to do them since I was overly obsessed with vpn performance
  • Speedtest.net - 3-5 Mbps.
  • testmy.net - forgot to do them since I was overly obsessed with vpn performance
  • International / surfing - was good no issues here

FTP normal no vpn using SSL and SFTP (thoughtput was done with SFTP):
Holy ****! max line speeds... or so I thought, which brings me now to my little throughput test. Why? I wanted to see how it goes when I eat into business hours if it will maintain a literally clean max speed without dropping. This was how it started at about 9pm. I was surprised to see it continued so late into "business day" having thought it will have ended sooner.

I can't say that I'm not worried if this trend also goes for overall usage. Obviously a whole month will be good to be able to do a proper investigation in what speeds do you get for just plain "normal" usage and then "other" on not encrypted or using encrypted.

here we:

Quite a bit of fluctuations today 100-200. 200 being line speed.

And youtube playback randomly stops (was fine yesterday)

Does anyone else experience random authentication failures? That's currently happening to me and I can't connect.
