Thanks. I look forward to when the solution is developed.
We offer a large number of products, on different realms and sometimes even networks. A one size fits all development solution is not possible. It is a work in progress so to speak.

We have alerted engineers to the Google dilemma. Seems like it affected certain areas, which is strange.

Nice to get home at 16:40 and have to fire up the back-up account to access the net. Gmail so slow it was stuck at loading, when it gone through, it was stuck at all the unread mail. Clicking like crazy to open the mail but all in vain.

I logged a problem yesterday, finally. This was after repeated times of finding my general browsing and emails via Google almost unusable during the day.

Instead of attending to my request for support, I had the support guy respond that he noticed I had used up 10Gb already for the day and that is an awful lot. I'm on a 4M uncapped Gamers King.

Now the thing is, that I'm not complaining about my account throughput or ability to download. I'm am generally very happy with my account. But even when not downloading at all, my browsing is unusable during the day. Why is this related to my throughput overall?

Can we have a clear and concise answer to this correlation once and for all please MrBEEP? The talk doesn't match the walk.

Are we to accept that there are punitive measures in place on our uncapped accounts. We are repeatedly told there is only dynamic shaping, but this simply doesn't add up. Why is it then that some complain of the exact same problem whilst others say all is working fine?

I had an overnight download of PS3 games running, but it had finished before I experienced the issue.

It is a consistent issue and it seems your support guys are not willing to look into it because I downloaded a lot. More punitive measures?

Please assist, I'd be very grateful.

I have the same issue unfortunately - my 8Mbps Silver Uncapped account is absolutely awesome in the evening but during the day its like I have a dial up account - no jokes! Emails send at 1-2kb/s. Websites take 20-30 seconds to open. I have received several new accounts which never really solve the issue. At almost exactly 5PM every day my account jumps from 40Kb/s max to 650Kb/s.

I have had to setup a mikrotik to route all http and mail via another provider's capped account which is now costing me an extra R250 per month. It works fine like that but it sucks that I have to resort to this. Maybe OpenWeb doesn't have enough bandwidth for the daytime traffic? I don't really know but I do hope this gets solved sooner than later.

Kindly drop [email protected] a mail so that we can take a look.

Please include your ADSL username.

We will perform some tests on our side during office hours.

There are no general issues. Please allow support a few minutes to investigate and respond.

My ADSL has died (in Edenvale). Getting PAP Authentication Failed.

Anyone else?

(yes - have emailed support)

MrBEEP, as I understand it current clients may not 'downgrade' their accounts in favour of special accounts, i.e. 'Gamer King' accounts.

If this is the case, is it right to assume that a current client could upgrade to a Gamer King, provided their current package was lower in terms of cost?

Anyone having trouble with Gmail and/or other mail protocols?

My Gmail keeps complaining and timing out, and even my local pop server is crawling at about 1.5kBps

Update: It's after 5:30pm now and all is well

Mr Beep,

I have Standard Uncapped, and I use the account for basic browsing and email during the day and a bit of downloading at night.

In the last few days, from about lunchtime to around 5 pm I noticed that my email client stops working completely (Apple Mail), to the extent that new mail is not delivered. During these times nothing else is using the connection.

My browsing speed is diminished somewhat but the speedtest is just fine.

My mail is hosted locally in SA, and they are all IMAP accounts. Basically during the day I cannot use mail when connected to your uncapped package.

If I switch accounts to Afrihost, all is fine.

I don't want to log a fault ... but is there something that one can do?

I understand that on the Standard package mail and browsing protocols would be the last to be affected?

Please help.

Hi prodigyX,

It all depends on the account type, promotion and the rules surrounding the promotion. As advised yesterday, kindly drop [email protected] a mail and we will check for you

I am getting lag in Battlefield 3 and it is very frustrating. Could it be my connection? I sometimes see my ping to European servers spike to almost 400ms, while it is usually around 200ms. Line speed is fine.

Connection or something wrong with Battlefield 3? I am on 4Mbps Gamers King, routed through MTN backbone. GPU and CPU more than sufficient.

Hi Kalster

Please drop me a PM.

Please include a tracert to the gaming server. I would like to take a look at this.
