I believe this could be your problem. The router.

Im afraid we will not be able to comment until we receive more info. Kindly PM me details, including your ADSL username and details of the issue, including some websites you are having an issue with, and we can investigate

Web browsing is painfully slow :( It randomly happens a lot at night. It takes a long time to load a simple webpage like google.com. It's been like this for the last 3 weeks. Somestimes it can be temporarily fixed by resetting my 3 year old router. I never had this kind of problem with MWEB before moving to Openweb.

Anyone else having a sluggish experience tonight? Websites take longer than usual to load, Youtube keeps buffering on 360p, etc.

yup running at less than half of normal speed for me tonight.. only noticed it now though, was fine a few hrs ago when i was last at PC

It was identified that Twitch themselves are having issues.

We have done various tests using different ADSL networks, including 3G, and Twitch all round is experiencing bad performance levels
Hope they manage to fix their issues soon, I was also having a lot of trouble with this.

Speeds good here now, was a bit slower earlier but now it seems to be cooking.

US okay:

Based on the last few tickets, I believe I have found yours.

I am currently connected to your account and its running at around 1.74Mbps on average. I would suggest following Leon's instruction, as he has performed a reset for you

Hi MrBeep

It was working fine for a few hours after Leon reset my ports, thanks. Speeds are again fluctuating from 0.4 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps though where it used to constantly be between 1.7-1.8 Mbps.
Luckily it hasn't really affected gaming but streaming any kind of video can be frustrating.

Turn off torrents? Even a small channel on an odd port messes with the http port shaping. Exit your torrent client completely before doing tests. (Even if you "pause" downloads, utorrent or whatever program you are using, it keeps listening on some weird port; slowing everything else down.)

Torrent clients are never running while I do any kind of speedtest and I usually make sure I have only 1 active device using the conection. Also, I'm pretty sure I do much less downloading than most so doubt that I should be throttled in any way.

For the guys having twitch issues. .. Please dump trace routes so we can compare. Mine gets to London them times out. Not sure if the content is available on a EU cdn node

Hi Steakhouse

You are aware of their rate limiting and fair use policy right? My account also worked fine for a few days until IS had to call me and tell me it was now ion some rate-limit pool.

I since cancelled the service.

Good luck.

Our accounts are not 'rate-limited'. We shape based on how busy the network is at any given time. Kindly PM me the details of the person from IS you spoke to.

You sure you posted this in the right thread? I have pulled a crapload of data so far this month and was still downloading at 1MB/sec last night on my 10Mbit account.

And why on earth would somebody from IS call you? That would just be very wrong for them to be calling Openweb customers. Your story sounds fishy to me.

There are many, many people in this thead that have pulled hundreds of GBs and not one of them have gotten a call from IS about usage on an OpenWeb account -myself included.
I call BS on your story.

Hi MrBeep,

I'm having issues again with Google Search, Images and Maps today. The problem was also their yesterday and Monday between 9am and 4pm. Leon had re-routed my account on my Monday which sped things up well but the Google problem still persists.

I have now logged back into my old account just as a test and that's working fine across all Google sites. Why is this?

You fixx!! Are a Bull****ter & Troll.. I've downloaded that the plastic of the wires near melts, but never had a call from IS.

I think that you are from some rival, start-up ISP, that is trying to get a few customers by any means necessary!!!

Woh there folks. Poster never said why they called him, maybe it was at his request. Let's not jump to conclusions before we know all the details.

I sent the details of the IS SR to someone there now to check their call records. Unfortunately the IS support person called me on my cell so I do not have a recording of the call. I am sure if they look at the SR the truth will be made clear.

I believed what the guy on the other side of the line said, since my tests showed that with an MWEB account on the exact same line everything worked the way it should have.

Bul&*@%%ing I am not!

I call complete nonsense on this. I've had a Gold account for two years now and I am a very heavy user. My usage usually does not stray below 200gb in any given month, on a 1mb account. I have never been throttled or been called to to be informed I am being throttled.

If someone did indeed call you, it was probably by accident, because Openweb does not throttle accounts, and they never have as far as I am aware.
