Mr Beep I have been curious since a lot of posts have crept up about this...

Were we testing SAINET the other day when we got the test accounts and asked for the results? :P to kind of like see if it's any different? haha

Hi dageek,

No you were not. This was a new profile we created on the Internet Solutions network.

Hi Aquadyne,

There are no network issues currently. The network is running well below capacity, and everyone has been unshaped since Friday at 19:00.

Kindly contact Telkom on 10210 to further troubleshoot

Gaming impossible...
Lag is a drag.
Suck this Fhit!!

Yeah, I know thanks Mr Beep...
Just venting...
It's been good for so long and now Telkom is acting up again.
Been down this road before. Paved with misery and frustration. And long... So damn long..

A second restart fixed it, this is weird, I need to restart my router a lot on this account.

Is this my router, telkom or Openweb? Anyone else experience similar issues?

How long do you leave you router off before a restart? I hope you give ample time for everyone to "forget" you.

I struggled for half the weekend as well. Speeds cane back up late Saturday. I'm not understanding this router restart issue that has crept up. It's been fine but now I need to restart to maybe get my speeds back. It should just work.

If speeds magically improve after a restart, it more than likely points to a Telkom or router fault.

When you restart, you are restarting the session at Telkom. We would always suggest you switch off for no less than 30 minutes so that Telkom resets the session completely.

Alternatively you may contact them on 10210 and log a fault

why has the router been fine uptil now? i will definately monitor the situation.

Routers and lines break, like all technology.

It is either a router or Telkom fault.

How does one narrow that down to see which it is? IE, tracert to somewhere can show latency at exchange- would a slow initial hop mean it's the router?

Hi budza,

It is very difficult to pinpoint. Our support guys use the 'trial and error' method. We ask the client to try different accounts, and routes. If none of the accounts work correctly on the client side, and they do on our side, then we refer them to Telkom.

Telkom have some tools that can shed some light in the issue.

The second hop is a good indicator of exchange congestion or DSLAM port fault.
