Still getting 200KB/s on my gold 4mb account :cry: and apparently the network is unshaped tonight as well.

Mr Beep, with all due respect, I've already e-mailed support last week and they gave me a new account, it worked for a few days and the problems are back today, I e-mailed support again and they told me to stop downloading when browsing lol.... I wasn't downloading, I just can't open simple websites before 5 pm....
 
International was slow again last night. Trying to stream the US Open final last night was an incredibly frustrating experience!

International speed tests yielded less than 1Mbps. Things are no better this morning.

Tracert to Google.com seems to run fine, except it takes a while (a few seconds) for each hop for the address to get resolved. Is that normal?
 
Mr Beep, I also have a similar problem to Zodiak. My account deteriorates over time. It starts off fine, and then after a few days / weeks, I get very slow speeds between 12.00 and 17.00.

This is just for email and browsing. I did a ping yesterday and I get missed packets, email takes forever to load. I do not download / download torrents during these times.

I then email support, get a new account and then all is well for a few weeks until it starts again.

The problem that I have is that I have had so many accounts in the last few months it is almost impossible to remember the account when trying to use the wifi at the airport.

Apart from the constant changing of accounts, and the slow deterioration of speeds until it is nearly impossible to use between 12.00 and 17.00, I am generally happy. Is there is any way to sort this out permanently???

PS. I am on Standard Uncapped (Promotion)

Mr Beep, just want to thank you again for helping me with my torrent download problem. There is no ISP in RSA with the same personal and quick customer service than OpenWeb. Been with OpenWeb for 3 years and will continue to recommend it to friends :)
 
Hi MrBEEP, HTTP browsing and downloads are working at about 60% of my line speed during peak
hours today as opposed to the 15% yesterday, so I couldn't be happier.

Thanks a lot for the assistance and the boost. :)

Let's hope it stays this way.

I was on the Gold (Original) package and the same thing happened to me. As I work during the day and my line stays idle, I would only pick up a problem after I got home one day where I would have no throughput and I would be forced to email support for a new account which would solve the current issue. Unfortunately this became a rinse and repeat process and got fed-up! Having the greatest respect for IS as I believe they provide the best service during the times that I require (5pm-8am), I dumped OW for Plugg. Haven't had to contact "support" for 11 months since, and the odd days I am at home, I can browse etc no prob and at worst, am shaped/throttled/QOS to half speed (4mb) when the network is busy (4 stars).

Honestly, IMHO, the star system is far better than some mysterious contention ratio pool that one gets allocated. At least I know where I stand, and if I abuse my account during waking hours and my rating drops, and I experience slow performance during the day, then that's understandable, but when OW boasts that they don't punish users with the star rating but instead use the contended pool system which makes everyone suffer then that's not cool.

Oh, and by the way JayN, what you describe with your experiences is exactly what happens to me with Plugg if I download (move lots of data between 8am-5pm), I get less and less performance as my rating goes down which is pretty conclusive that OW accounts also operate the same way and why they have to keep sending new details when folks complain? They will deny this of course.

Lagging like crazy tonight - on a Gamer's King account...

Reset router, it was all fine and dandy and then all of a sudden 3000ms in GW2. /sigh almost a daily issue.

Our shaping is based on how busy the network is at any given time. We do not log usage on most of our uncapped products, thus it would be pretty impossible to penalise our users based on the system you insist we use.

It's not a matter of denying, it is a matter of fact.

How does the 2mb Openweb Standard Uncapped (Love Edition) stand up against 1mb Afrihost Uncapped?

Edit: Reading the comments about these promo accounts make me want to stay far away from them.

Seems to be running well. I will provide feedback over the next few days. Hoping the performance won't deteriorate again.

Damn, account was usable during the day, and now my downloads are at half speed. Sent mail to ceo.
