I am one of those suffering high latencies. I can literally go from 200ms on one map in GW2 to 6000ms on the next. This must be a shaping problem.

Here is a screenshot of when I tried to load to Blazeridge Steppes from just doing another world boss with no lag in Guild Wars 2.

Now I have 2 options - not play or try reset the router (which seems to only temporarily fix the problem - and I have to wait between 1 and 10 minutes for the session to reset itself). I also now have to wait about 3 hours to do the event again. As it is now, I cannot even load in to the map.

Edit: Router reset, all fine again. MrBEEP will be sending me one of their routers to see if it resolves the problem.

Just out of interest, which brands and models of ADSL router do OpenWeb recommend or stay away from?

I have a Netgear DGN2200 - which has never had a problem.
MrBEEP has informed me that he will be sending me a Tenda (no model specified).

I've been having the same problem with gaming latencies recently. Very similar problems to some other people that have posted recently. The main game I experience the problem with is Dota 2.

One match I've got a normal ping (Usually play on EU West @ 190ms), then suddenly the next match I'll have 4000ms ping. The ping will continue to stay this way unless I reboot my router a couple of times (Once doesn't usually work) or I change my internet account to something else (I usually change it to an Afrihost 1GB capped account or Axxess capped account - both work perfectly).

It definitely isn't my router as I've tested with multiple routers (And the problem persists). I also currently use the Asus RT-N66U (Which cost R2000) which I highly doubt will cause problems.

Other games that I've experienced the same problem in are Smite, Guild Wars 2, Team Fortress 2 (Or pretty much any source game), Minecraft. Must be something port/shaping related, as normal pings to websites are perfect. It's only in-game pings that shoot up.

Hopefully this problem can be sorted out soon.

PS: I also have the exact same problem as other members here where my account deteriorates over time. After a few weeks (Sometimes less, sometimes more) I have to request a new account as my old one simply doesn't work properly anymore.

There is nothing worse than the wife messaging me and telling me she has had enough of the internet because she cannot even download an attachment from Gmail or even send scanned Discovery claim form from the Openweb SMTP account.

She want's me to change ISP's as we have changed username/password about 4 times now and it all eventually runs into the ground

What must i do Keoma?

Edit: I have just replied to your email i sent you in July about the same issue, where you responded by giving me a new username/pass.

I am fairly certain there is a problem with their shaper. It's like it forgets IP's it's not supposed to shape on a very regular basis. As described earlier, I can literally go from one map to another and hit the horrendous lag. When I was doing the switch over from MWEB to OW, I would test with the MWEB account and it would be fine.

MrBEEP has informed me that gaming IP addresses are prioritised dynamically but there's something definitely broken with the way it is done.

Something hicky in the Pretoria area too. Got home at 13:15, Internet light red, DSL light dead and no up/down stream. Phoned telscum, looks like they did a port reset. everything working for 15min, red internet light. loosing sync again.

Any issues on IS we don't know about?

Or exchange issue?

and same story from the top.

This is very strange! Been fine, map hopping all over the place doing world events and I finally come back to the one I couldn't do earlier and this happens - loading screen and super high latency just on one IP address.

Logic dictates that for this to happen on just one IP address means that there is a routing / shaping problem.

Edit: Nevermind, now the whole bloody connection is stuffed. Again. Third reset for the router today. My housemate also tells me the speeds on just normal browsing during the day are pretty rubbish as well (I am normally at work).

Normally I would just PM MrBEEP but seeing as this is a public forum, I am interested to see how many people suffer from the same issue.

I also play GW2, and I also see this happening some nights in some of the maps (ignoring all the overcrowded maps where Champ farming is happening) with lower activity as well; are you also on Aurora Glade ? RAWR

Internet at the moment, both at work and at my house is unusable. Browsing sites are extremely slow, and downloading files is impossible... time outs and downloads @ 4Kb/s.

Come on Openweb!

Yeah same server :)

I have recently got a 4mbit gamers king uncapped account.

Signup and getting started was simple and efficient.
Speeds were fantastic for the first week and a half. The past 2-3 days I've noticed a trend in low speeds when it comes to general web browsing local and intl.
Youtube varies between 0.40mbps and 0.80mbps, at night it shares a similar trend and after hitting refresh it goes to a full line speed download. Pings to games are great all day though. I leave the P2P downloads off until late at night early mornings to prevent any adhoc shaping that might be put on the account.

Here is a few speed tests locally and intl which echoes the speeds i'm getting during the day.

International speeds at the moment are terrible, and throttling on torrents is way overboard. Still can't get more than double digit torrent speeds on my 2MB gold uncapped account. Things have not been great on Openweb the last few weeks...

We'll I logged a ticket yesterday about the terrible daytime speeds on a 4Mb gamers king account, I still struggle to open google/gmail and most international sites. I can forget about downloading anything during the day, even my mail takes ages to download. The response that i received from Leon is that he tested my account on 4 x test lines and the account is not the problem. Funny thing is as soon as i switch to a capped account, problem goes away. I also doubt that my 2 day old router is faulty. But come 5pm, everything runs smoothly again.

I know in general people only bother posting the bad news, not the good.

There's a lot of bad at the moment:

wingnut771
DJ...
Hype
Adksuperman
StevenC
CVRChameleon

All with similar symptoms of dodgy account management.

akescpt is happy though, as am I until the next time I have to change my user credentials...

Good luck sorting out your problems :)

Oh good, I'm not alone. 10+ second lag here according to resource monitor, but in practice I can often not even log in to a map. Support can't find any problem with my account. It really feels like a shaping rather than a router issue because all other traffic works fine (browsing, youtube, teamspeak) and weekends and evenings are peachy.

I'm on Gandara.

It's not always bad, overall i'm very happy. It's just on the odd days that I work from home and struggle to do anything that peeves me a bit. And when support tells you that the account is fine, when clearly it is not.

Just remember that it is not necessarily your ISP account that is screwing around. WHen I spoke to the support guy at Axxess (where I have my line), he said that they are getting an unusual number of line problem reports. There was nothing wrong with my line though as far as he could see. They said exactly the same last time and it turned out that Telkom was upgrading the local exchange.
