OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

There are no general issues tonight.

Drop me a PM and I will do some tests for you.

Is it just me or other having weird internet experiences like.. webpages hang or dont load at all?

Gamers account.

Sorry for the delayed replies. I took my loved one for a romantic evening out. I then missed you guys so much, I had to cut it short.

I am in trouble, deep deep trouble, and it's all your fault. ;/

Seems the company don't have an issue addressing the odd query via the forums. As do all the company reps on the forum.

So suck it up and deal with it. The irony here is that you're derailing a thread by bitching about issues you believe aren't relevant to the thread.

In future I think the various reps are able to speak for themselves. In addition, you're in no position to know what avenues of support others have already tried prior to posting on the forum. And finally, it's in everyone's best interests if more is posted rather than less. Both for end users and support staff at the ISPs. Bear in mind that this is an incredibly effective and cheap method of addressing queries for ISPs as they don't have to burden themselves with the cost of support infrastructure, as well as it being the most visited forum in the country. It makes financial, support, marketing, and customer service sense for reps to fully utilise this platform. I can't think of a better thread in which to do so.

TL;DR version: shut the fsck up...

I've asked MrBEEP twice, I think, whether this is an official support channel and he responded with a resounding "No". Do you really think he's not going help out here? He's kind of been forced into.
If the person has an issue, pm him, don't come moan on the (I'll say it again) "Feedback Thread" about it.

"MrBEEP sort me out NOW or else..." is not feedback.
"Lines are slow tonight, anyone else experiencing the same?" is feedback.

MrBEEP, maybe you should start a "Support Thread" so DJ can take his arrogant attitude there.

Hush up now. You've had your say. Now you're just derailing with menial bullschit...

Fast internet is the shizzle :D

Started 4gig download, went to wash dishes, came back and download finishing in 5 minutes :D

I find that more people posting about the same issues helps us to find out what the problem is. MrBEEP is great and all but a public forum is a great place to bring about truth in what is an obfuscated industry.

I am experiencing latency issues on an almost daily basis in GW2. I will be merrily playing along at about 190ms when I will hop to another map and my latency immediately shoots up in to the thousands. I then have to reset my router, often having to wait 1 to 10 minutes for my session to drop (HIGHLY annoying when world events are happening and I am missing out) then get back in game with back to normal latency. So far I have had to reset my router 3 times tonight and I am posting this because the lag is back AGAIN. 4 times in one night is frustrating. And this is almost every night (strangely enough, not on unshaped weekends).

I check my traceroutes. No exchange congestion.
I check the IP's in resource monitor. Just one IP lagging like crazy.
I have received a Tenda router from MrBEEP. Same issues as my DGN2200.
Other people seem to experience the same type of issue as reported in this thread (see Sl8er, it is in fact useful to post here).

Anyone got any suggestions?

Try using another ISP for a few days and see if the problem persists.

When I was crossing over from MWEB, when I would experience the problem I would go back to that account for the evening with no problems.

There is nothing to indicate that the problem is to do with my computer, router, line, exchange or Telkom. The only thing I can think of is that there is an issue with the shaping / prioritisation on the Gamer's King account(s) that I have or have had.

How long does it take for your IP to get renewed after disconnecting? Some Anon Skid got pissed and booted me off. (Thanks for your awesome security Microsoft)

I normally switch to another ISP and switch back. Takes about 5min.

My 10mb Gamer King account is horribly slow again this morning. Can barely break 100kBps no matter what I do. HTTP browsing, YouTube & speedtest.net is all being shaped very harshly. Anyone else's Gamer King / Standard uncapped accounts performing similarly? Just need to know if this is normal before I email support.

Hey Friends,

This morning the network is very busy due to a high demand for torrents. Our shaping mechanisms has kicked in and is currently managing downloads in order to free up bandwidth for browsing and business protocols.

We forecast things to quieten down at around 20:00

fullspeed will be even later. after midnight most likely. things are a-changing around here...

Everyone and their dog downloading GTA:V torrent?

Speeds are very decent today for a network that's being shaped.

Thanks MrBeep. I think I'll keep this account. Supersport streamed perfectly last night. I do believe that it is a DNS issue, as the moment I plug in Google's DNS settings, SS struggles with streaming. I also cannot login to the Supersport live stream website using Google DNS settings, so I believe we might have identified the culprit?

Hi MrBEEP,

I am battling to get onto my home vpn. I used the username.dns.openweb.co.za before but I cant even ping it now. I had it before and thought I might be disconnected at home but it was not the case. ADSL was running fine. Will username.dns.openweb.co.za still work?
