We do not prioritise speedtest, thus it will show shaping.

Speedtest uses a small file download on some of its applications, which the shaper picks up as a download and shapes accordingly.

We can follow suit and prioritise speedtest like the other ISP's do?

No thanks. This will just use more bandwidth that could rather be used somewhere else. Speedtests are unnecessary tbh. Real world downloads and file transfers are still a better way of finding issues.

Regardless, speedtests have improved markedly in the last few hours. Local tests at over 6Mbps and international to UK 4Mbps, with better pings as well. Will test streaming now.

Don't let my nick mask my true location, in the Western Cape and after new account last week which ran well, today dead in the water, and that is with trying to play Minecraft (don't need low ping) and lag out of the servers located internationally.

Strange because speed tests show some fair results, until you try and do anything online.

1st Test

2nd Test

Would really like a solution that does not require weekly account swops!

With all due respect MrBEEP, the speed test was posted as an EXAMPLE of the poor speeds I was experiencing at the time. I DID try uploading pictures of websites timing out, partially loaded images, etc. but I could NOT as the uploads all timed out!

You have stated previously that browsing should NOT be affected by shaping, eg: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ack-Thread?p=11248035&viewfull=1#post11248035

Emailed support to look into my high latencies and Youtube - I can't even watch at 144p on my 2Mb Gold. They said that my port has been reset and I should leave my router off for 20 mins. Afterwards its still the same. I replied to the ticket but no response yet.

Streaming seams fine here now. Hulu at high and Youtube at 720p. Yay!

Fun times with Openweb Gold (2Mbps)! Got a new account last week, after two days it was back to the new "normal".

I have signed up with OW on the 19 Sept 2013 with a Gold account (thinking it was unshaped) and it's been a nightmare.

First thing is that I was never able to sign into the client zone although I have asked them 4 times to fix the issue. I eventually gave up on that. The service over the phone is just so pathetic.

Secondly the line was unstable from the start, but when I had no connection in the daytime since the 25th I had no choice but to jump ship and quickly get an account with Afrihost for simple services like browsing & emails which was desperately needed for work.

The problem is that OpenWeb is now forcing me to pay for another month of not having a service. Paying 2 ISP's while only using 1 is a bit hectic.

I have send an email to admin, to explain myself but they did not even bother to reply. Today 1 October I saw that they charged me for October anyway and according to a previous email they are going to charge me for November as well because I did not cancel before the 25th.

I spoke to ABSA bank and they said that the only way to stop them from charging me again is to stop my credit card and order a new one. It will take about a week to get a new card which will cause other problems for me.

This is just one of the joys of Afrihost, how easy it is to open an account or close it. (You can close your account with one button in the client zone) When I went back to Afrihost I did not even pick up the phone, just sign back into client zone and choose my product.

Go ahead OpenWeb, keep my money, but I will keep my friends from you.

Hi staxza,

I am sorry to read about your experience.

Kindly email [email protected] regarding this issue. He will be able to investigate further for you.

Hi Friends,

We will be offering another bonus unshaped experience this evening.

Unshaping will be as follows:

Gold Uncapped - 17:30
Other service levels - 19:30

Happy downloading.

More bandwidth for us. Gold is not advertised as unshaped. You said that your line was unstable, this is a Telkom thing, not Openweb. I have never waited more than 24 hours for a reply from OW Support. You obviously did something wrong here. You signed up knowing that you had to give a month of notice before leaving. Again, your fault for not reading the TOS. Why don't you PM MrBEEP with some info and he can sort you out?
Regards,
Mike

YES THANK YOU BASED GOD

Just in time for the new GW2 patch to download :)

@ MrBEEP - latency was fine the whole weekend and much of today (I did need to reset router this morning). Will keep you posted though.

MrBeep

Happy to report that Revision 3 now at 4 dots. Whatever you guys have done seems to have worked.
Thank you. Will PM with more details.

Hi Friends,

Please email [email protected] with as much details as possible so that we can submit it to engineers for investigation.

We need to be able to re-create the issue.

Anyone else here seeing issues streaming from Revision 3 on a Roku 3?

I've been streaming it fine while I was with MWEB over the Unotelly DNS but with Openweb it streams the first second or 2 and then re-buffers. Eventually it ends up dropping the quality to 2 dots which looks crap. I've tried using the stock DNS servers but still no joy.

Switched routers 3 days ago suddenly today I am getting SSL errors when trying to access various sites (Facebook etc)......on phone it says SSL error [wireless router] - on PC says connection reset.

Would this be an account or router error?

Things running pretty smoothly this evening ! Think them Mwebbers have gone out for some ice cream !
