BEWARE - These accounts are so shaped during the day, that it is impossible to open a webpage or download e-mail.
Time to open www.sharenet.co.za, 8min30sec (no downloads running). World of warcraft is stuck on the loading screen. Their claim of unshaped gaming 24hrs is a lie. Hate to say this, but even a throttled MWEB account is faster during the day. This appears to be an after hours account ONLY. Stone DEAD during the day.

Calling their call center is an exercise in futility. One-one will speak to you. Everyone is always busy. Can't open a ticket because (surprise) their webpage times out before loading in the browser, so I have to use my AFRIHOST account to make this post. Be careful with this account if you need to browse during the day, or you will end up crying - like I am.

Kindly PM me the details of 3 x sites that are slow on the loading.

Also please forward me the number you called from, so that I can investigate the issue you experienced with the call centre.

Do you perhaps have an agents name as well? Please include that in the PM

well i wasnt able to watch a single Youtube video last night at about 20:00ish. unfortunatly there is a calender month cancellation. so now i have to deal with this "amazing" account till the end of november. seriously contemplating getting a 10gig account from afrihost right now because my gaming account sucks ass during the day (Playing games) and now it looks as though im getting shaped on youtube at night now.

PS ran a tracert and from router to 1st host was like 30ms (GREAT :)) 1st host to second was a little higher and then from there onwards every 2nd host was 100ms

The network was completely unshaped since 19:00 last night.

We do not shape Youtube at the best of times, nevermind at 20:00 in the evening, thus there is something else at play here

I have a standard promo 2 Mbps, and the account speed constantly deteriorates during the day. This has now got to the point of being unusable during the day and this is just for browsing and email (no downloads, no torrents etc.).

At night, it flies .... no hassles.

I've kept the OW account and just signed up for the 20GB afrihost capped account for daytime use. It's cheap enough and will serve my purpose ... just the schlep of changing accounts in the evening.

Mr Beep ... I think we will be happy to pay a bit more so that we can have a better experience all round.

Build yourself a router with pfSense or get a router that can schedule rules to do this automatically. I tested this a little while ago with psSense and worked brilliantly.

We have done some market research and unfortunately the trend currently is cheap.

Folks do not want to pay more for bandwidth. Thus, we have launched cheaper accounts with higher contention ratios.

I am fully aware that the trend is for a download pressure on the price, and unfortunately customers will go where there are cheaper prices ... please drop me a pm with your email address, and I will send through some suggestions.

I do something similar with a Telkom 5GB account- I just dial that from the PC I'm using. I leave my phone connected to WiFi with OW- it seems happy enough.

My pcs arent accessible at home and i cant get to Openwebs page.
 
Had auth failures this morning, but support sorted me out quickly. Maybe same thing happened to you.

That said, it's really slow since I reconnected, and like you I can't access Openweb's webite. Are things working as normal for you other folks?
 
happened to be at home around 9.30 this morning. happened to have something in the queue. speed was surprising.

ive been slamming OW for the past month but i must admit that lately service levels has been up there where i expect this ISP to be. so well done to the team for the turning the corner on that month from hell.

ps. i cant reach the OW homepage either.

There is a fault on the web server currently. Engineers are attending.

This will not affect any connectivity.

Based on your tracert it seems like you have a congested exchange fault.

Kindly call Telkom on 10210 and log a fault

Post your message, now I am attaching this Test Results from Telkom that clearly proves the line is alright. Modem is also fine. Still my speeds are less than 1 Meg where my subscription is for 2 Meg. How can this be explained?????
