I know one way to resolve the problem, but I was hoping that would be my last option ...

There has been no shaping active since 19:30 last night.

Shaping will only be re-applied on Monday at 8am

This is the perfect time to resolve Telkom and router errors as pretty much anything that goes wrong is more than likely not the account.

Hi DJ,

I see Leon replied to you early this morning. Please check mails if possible.

Very impressive. I wasn't even looking out for an email. Figured it was far too early already.

This one is entirely on me though. I was using the wrong password. I blame the hangover...

You are supposed to be on a drinking break. This must be karma.

Browsing will be shaped and slow if you download during peak. This affects Gmail etc.

Unfortunately, some folks have found a loophole by downloading via the browsing protocol. In order to protect the network, browsing is shaped when you download. This only applies to peak times.

I have asked the engineers to perform some testing on Monday in relation to Gmail and Google specifically.

About time, it's a serious issue and perhaps you need to experience it yourself to understand what many users are reporting, before using the same vague reasons again. Interesting that it's also various accounts performing the same?

I hope next week is better, if not, hopefully these engineers can spot something...

After browsing Afrihost/Mweb posts today, all I want to say this -> I love you, Openweb!!!!!! :D

It would really benefit your company to deal with the clear issues in a public fashion. There is no need to discuss 'those' types of 'personal' details here. Merely squizz through the host of complaints in this thread since the start of this week +-, look into them, and provide an answer/solution.

I'm sure there are others as stumped as marine1 and I why this cannot be dealt with in a transparent fashion. Why the need for it to always be done behind doors?

They don't want the general public to know what their network is really like.
For example, I complained the other day on their facebook page. Comment was deleted, and I am now unable to comment on ANY of their facebook posts.

I have to deal with this shit for 12 more days. It would have been over already, but it seems like they would prefer to lock me in for a further month, while simultaneously providing nearly non existent service. I don't have access to the router to keep switching accounts for them, so there's probably nothing else they can do to help fix this.

There is definitely something else at play here.

What does a traceroute look like?

That's an issue on your side or most likely congestion at the exchange. Unfortunately nothing MrBeep can do to fix this, best you log a fault with Telkom.

Hi Guys!

Please can someone tell me the difference between the Gold and Silver package, is it similar to an uncapped and business uncapped account?

Oliver

Hey everyone! Just signed up for a Gold account! :D Is there anyway to contact OpenWeb by phone on the weekend? Emails not working.

Ok some weirdness going on here, my account has been up and down, a few disconnects later i'm getting frustrated, I am not blaming openweb but.... while saying that, I am online now and my steam account wont connect, downloads are sitting at 145kb/s maxed out and its all being very screwy atm in Cape Town. I haven't nearly gotten full line speed for the past week thinking it was just shaping, any issues in Cape Town currently MRBeep?
