Hey everyone! Just signed up for a Gold account! :D Is there anyway to contact OpenWeb by phone on the weekend? Emails not working.

Send a PM to Mr Beep. He keeps an eye open for these. I was cut off due to a snafu at OpenWeb at the beginning of the month, but never heard from him why it took 2 days to resolve

Not sure if it has already been asked:

When Telkom eventually upgrade the lines after November as promised, will Openweb charge more for the increased speed?

Has been asked already, the answer is not yet clear. If I was a betting man I would probably say you're going to have to pay a bit extra on the ISP side if you want a speed bump on uncapped.

Ok some weirdness going on here, my account has been up and down, a few disconnects later i'm getting frustrated, I am not blaming openweb but.... while saying that, I am online now and my steam account wont connect, downloads are sitting at 145kb/s maxed out and its all being very screwy atm in Cape Town. I haven't nearly gotten full line speed for the past week thinking it was just shaping, any issues in Cape Town currently MRBeep?

I've just wasted 2 hours of my life trying to stream a football match off the Supersport website. It would play for 5 minutes then freeze for another 10. Had to reboot modem and pc to get it to work again. And then wanted to pull my hair out and scream as it crashed continuously. Openweb's 2mbs gamersking account is seriously deteriorating. I will persist but once I reach my limit, it will be goodbye Openweb...

It's not a problem with openweb. It's a supersport issue. See this thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=567789

And there are many others about their crap service...

Kindly contact SuperSport regarding this issue. They have issues every weekend.

Unfortunately, this matter is out of OpenWeb's hands.

Meneer Beep

I have to admit, since my last post I have done no Telkom calling or router checking, but amazingly the speed is faster than a Ferrari ... Don't know how or why ... But I am one happy camper....

Ah well perfect way to get egg on my face. I apologise tp Openweb for my ranting :whistle:My internet was dodgey during the day hence I jumped to that conclusion.

Hi Mr Beep,

I think now I have a serious issue with my internet connection but I don't know if the fault lies with Telkom or Openweb. But here goes. My internet access keeps dropping, ie the light on my modem for "Internet" keeps going off. Reboot the modem and its fine for a while, then the issue pops up again. I haven't switched my modem off in a while to observe its behavior. Every few minutes the internet light switches off and after a while it switches back on again. I managed to sneak onto mybb during one of the instances it was on. So any idea where the fault could be? Is my modem shot? Are Telkom blessing me with their world standard *cough* service delivery or are Openweb experiencing problems? I'm on the 2mbs Gamers King account.

This behavior usually points to a Telkom or router issue.

Our account has no reason to disconnect you once connected, therefore the issue is usually an underlying one.

Try using a different router. If this fails, I would suggest logging an official fault with Telkom

Is there shaping being applied today or are the jhb power outages causing problems, as torrents are crawling in the single digits...

Noticed the same- I throttle NNTP on weekends, so P2P can take over. P2P has been super slow today, so I've kicked off the NNTP again.

Unusual.

Same here in Jhb... however my fnbconnect account gets full speed on torrents? my OW account is at 50-60% max since Friday night.

No shaping has been applied since Friday at 18:00

Kindly perform a speedtest here: http://www.speedtest.net and PM me the results along with your ADSL username

Looks to be exchange congestion on my end. 700ms pings to the second hop...:(

Any chance you had a thunder storm or two? My internet was broken for 3 weeks after the first thunder storm hit my area.

I had the same issue and eventually telkom fixed the pole where the lightning struck.
