My international downstream is also very slow since last night when I first asked about it.

MrBeep: Are there any general problems currently or should I PM you my details?

Last Result:

I see Afrihost has problems due to a card failure in Cape Town. Not sure if this should affect us, but it sure feels like it. Downloads where half speed through the night.

There are no general issues currently.

Mone of our test lines in Cape Town are experiencing unusual slow downs

Mr Beep, can you confirm contention ratios for your various uncapped products? Are they consistent, or do they change, and most importantly, what are they?

Thank you!

A contention ratio is the amount of people that share capacity.

The rule of thumb is, the more you pay, the lower your contention ratio and higher your priority on the network.

We haven't decided yet.

We first need to do the sums and see how badly it will affect clients if we double the amount of people sharing capacity.

I think we will probably end up offering clients a choice. More will follow soon

As a OpenWeb Uncapped Gold subscriber, I would pay more (within reason) to maintain the quality of service.

My internet is extremely slow at the moment it doesn't even want to complete a speedtest I'm on the [2Mbps Gold Uncapped (Leon Edition) and the speedtest I have eventually started showed download speed of 0.02! I'm now back on my afrihost account which expires end of this month. I switched over to Openweb on the 17th of October but it seems that it was a mistake?

this I have just done on my afrihost, my openweb doesn't even want to complete the speedtest.

My internet has also been slow all day long since this morning. I can't load Speedtest.net either, if it does load then my results are extremely slow. Switching to my free Afrihost account things are back to normal. Seems like there is something broken on the IS network somewhere. It's a real pity though, over the weekend and yesterday things were flying, but today everything is in slow motion. I can't even load YouTube movies properly and when they do, they run in 144p :(

Will see if things improve after 5pm.

add me to the list .. 2mps Gold ... extremely slow ... I put in another ISP settings and my speed is fine ... so it looks like an Openweb issue... :(

1Mbps Standard Uncapped Promo. Started out fine this morning, then just got crappier and crappier.

:(

before 5pm ... browsing only (no p2p).. 0.22mbps
openweb.jpg

after 5pm ... 1.8mbps :)

so maybe they were shaping all protocols ?
