I'm getting full speed Dade, and I'm on exactly the same package. Do a traceroute and see where it goes belly up.

Hope 6 does not look good.

Please switch off your router for 20 minutes then back on.

Re- Download speeds will fluctuate during the course of the day. As the network gets busy, shaping is increases.

Remember, shaping is also region based.

Cape Town is all good for me, I get about the same hop times in total, but my internet works exactly like I want it to. Local and international is perfect.

Done. http downloads still struggle to exceed 30kb/s. Not looking like greener pastures any more :(

Well, during the day the internet is pretty shaped, that's true and it depends on folks in your area as well. After 17:00 thing usually pick up quite well.

I've also been getting major slowdowns during the day and it's happened quite suddenly, the last few days in fact. Videos at 360p no longer load continuously on a 2MBs uncapped gold account constantly getting the loading circle of doom.

According to the technical chap Paul at Openweb it's due to the mass torrenting of stuff from the states as new episodes come out and the usage of all the premium business accounts which get top priority on the network.

I'm still quite amazed that in a space of a few days my speeds have dropped from 150kb/s average download and smooth video watching to 40 kb/s and jerky videos. What caused the explosion in data usage?

So 30kb/s http is normal during the day? Should have stayed with AH if this is the case!

What's the point of even having a Gold uncapped account if this is the type of shaping one can expect? I might as well downgrade to Standard at this point?

Hi MrBeep,

I had an issue last week with international speed issues, you supplied another account to use which did the trick.

Unfortunately exactly a week later we have the same problem.

I have had telkom to do a port reset for good measure.
Also logged a call with your call center, still awaiting a response.

Looking forward to having this resolved.

Many Thanks,

I have no experience with AH, I came from MWeb and OW has been a breath of fresh air. Plus, I did a download, right now, at 80kb/s on my 1mb Uncapped Gold Leon account. Could it be something else? Are you sure there's nothing open like a torrent etc.? Or a tablet or iPad that's downloading some updates?

+1.
During the day NNTP and torrents are at crawl speeds due to shaping (which doesn't bother me), but after hours and weekends the protocols download at full capacity. Have never had a problem with browsing or streaming during the day though.

Dog slow again in cape town, edgemead. Same story with openweb.........log a call and then have to get a different account.

Why the hell can you people not sort it out once and for all? this must be the 5th time i need to "change" accounts with openweb. This gold service is not worth the money............

Are you perhaps having problems with certain YouTube channels or just general videos? I've noticed that on certain YouTube channels (like FailArmy) that videos lag and consistently buffer, whereas the same video on a different channel will run smoothly without having to buffer.

The slowdowns could also potentially be congestion on the exchange as it is towards the end of the month, which remains prime time for the guys still on cappped accounts.

I have noticed this as well. Some video's crawls and consistently buffers at 144p. Other channels have no problem at 360p during the same time period.
