I assume you're referring to 70% of full unshaped download speed during daytime?

I'm on 2 Mbps Gold and am most definitely not getting 70% of full speed during daytime. Maybe 1/10th of full speed.

But still prefer OW's shaping policy to any other ISP's policy up to now.

I don't have a problem with shaping during working hours, but I would expect general browsing and streaming (youtube) to behave as normal. I don't expect full speed, even half speed would be ok. but.. This week has been very slow... 0.2mpbs on a 2mpbs gold account is not right. After 5pm, it returns to normal speed, so there's nothing wrong with the exchange.. maybe it's a month end thing ?

Been with openweb for one month. The line is flying after 18:00 and weekends. But when im at home once a week, then i cant even browse.

Crazyness, i think openweb thinks that youtube does only work after hours and weekends.

I dont even use my line for downloading. Just browsing and youtube. When im at home.

Thinking of jumping ship to Afrihost capped account. 30gb is more then enough for me and the wifey.

Thats how shaping works dude.

It shaped when the network is busy and doesnt shape when its quiet

I agree, but it can't be so busy at 4:59pm and all of a sudden 5:01pm it's not busy.. we're just asking for a more dynamic shaping policy.

Hell, no , I left AH and Mweb for that very reason .. that's why I said in my original post, I don't have a problem with shaping. It's just the traffic type that can be adjusted ... shape the P2P stuff during normal hours, but open up the web browsing protocols at a bit more. 50% should be fine.. at the moment normal browsing is shaped too much in my opinion.

It shouldn't be shaped at all, unless you are also trying to download at the same time. Have MrBeep take a look for you.
 
I've been very happy with OW for a couple of years now, but this Telkom speed upgrade thing has left me really frustrated! I'm on 2Mbps right now and I would love to experience 4Mbps streaming. Downloading is not such a big problem for me, because I'm used to waiting ±30mins for an SD TV episode to download (I plan in advance). :)

This isn't really a complaint and I certainly don't want to give up my Gold package, but I can't afford an upgrade at this point in time. I just thought I'd share my frustration.

I'll enjoy the 4Mbps experience in little bursts on my free 1GB and 2GB capped packages until either Telkom reduces IPC costs, or I can afford to upgrade. :(

Like elesar, I am extremely dissapointed with my current Gold account. I'm on a 2Mb account and daytime youtube streaming is absolutely non-existant. My real frustration is that gaming has been impossible to do during daytime for the past 2 weeks or so. I can only log into my favorite MMO after 5PM. Its as if SNAP, everything suddently returns to normal. As if someone at HQ flicks a button or something.

Really frustrated as I've been with OW for about a year now and I've upgraded from a gamer's delight package towards a gold one, thinking that things would be even better. During that period, I must have submitted up to 10 tickets. Everytime someone ask for my details which I submit, then they create a new one for me, then all works all honkedory for about a month until it all just levels and then nosedive into poop.

I don't know anymore.... >>

This morning I have no internet access. Line is syncing but nothing else.
