Where are all these '1' post wonders coming from? Did a drain overflow?

99% of your 12 posts are badmouthing Openweb. Very suspicious if you ask me.

I am really happy you left. Less moaning on this thread, and more moaning on the AH thread. I pity the guys over there.

Naturally, my account is still flying. Airbus A380 comes to mind, but that is too slow to describe my Gold.

Unfortunately I am having the exact same issues with Netflix, Huluplus and Lovefilm. The internet flies, downloads run great but streaming is terrible, I watched one movie last night in HD then by the second one it dropped to 240p and that was it for the night, when I put my FNB details in everything flies again, go back to openweb 240p.

Torrents are 100%, downloads on steam, origin and browsing are perfect but streaming is just not working... so the one post wonder has a point.

And I have always been a supporter of Openweb...

Move to another network. Thats why Openweb offers an alternate network.

Im with you on this one. Im on Gold and havent had to switch my router off for a long time!

Hey MrBeep,

I'm really enjoying the experience with Hero Uncapped. I haven't had to switch my router off for 2 weeks now. That's how awesome this package is. Will the Hero Uncapped package ever return?

Done that, mentioned it in my previous post.

Tried IS and MTN, same issues. What is also strange is when running speedtests to other networks it is all over the place but when running speedtest to either MTN or IS it is perfect.

It is really strange all I have been told is it's not account related but my other account works fine. My line stats are good, im syncing at 9mbps and I'm on a 4mbps account. They even tried moving me to a completely unshaped account but nothing works for streaming.

I am happy moving to a different package, paying more, I don't care, I just want to get home turn on the tv and watch a show or two for some downtime before I start the studies.

Dude, then the fault isnt on the Openweb side.

Try using a different router. Check your firewall settings. Phone Telkom.

There are so many things it can be

Dude, I have said this already, when I place my FNB details on the router it works perfectly..... modem is fine, router is fine, already reset every thing to factory defaults, plugged just one machine in, had telkom testing the line.

Why would it work on my FNB account but not my Openweb account if it was a line or hardware issue???? I am fully aware of how many points of failure there are hence why I have tried all the different options and now going to try a capped option from Cybersmart and if that works then I will be moving over to a large capped account rather.

Also note this is on HuluPlus in the US, and Lovefilm in the UK and Netflix US/UK, so not just limited to Netflix... I get these services are not legal in SA, but they worked great last year on my Openweb account and now when i rejoin Openweb it's not.

Why dont you just ask Mrbeep for an openweb capped trial account?

I have just started streaming from netflix and it is running at 740p without buffer, and its peak at the moment.

I think your router is stuffed. Try a new one

Lol bud router is fine, I promise you... but I guess the fact that it works on FNB does not mean much. Anyhow going to try Cybersmart then report back.

Actually because a capped account works doesnt mean an uncapped will work.

I would really suggest you try using a different router. Maar nou ja. Ek is nie die baas nie.

I have a router with built in modem and a dedicated DSL2500u, so yes tried both, so no you not the boss... again it is not the hardware.

Also love to hear how a capped account uses your modem differently to an uncapped account?

Has Telkom reset your port? Reason I say this is I was having an issue with my OpenWeb account but Afrihost was working perfectly. Telkom reset my port and all was back to normal for OpenWeb.

You can turn off the modem for 30 minutes and it will reset afaik. Might save you a 30 minute phone call.

How can it be suspicious??? I am merely stating the facts, It is very interesting to note how many people are struggling with their openweb accounts and then the response is that it is always a telkom issue. And then as soon as you try a different ISP everything is 100% again. Now please explain to me how that can be a telkom issue?

Cause that sounds suspicious if you ask me.

Stop judging people on what they post or not post. So I had a bad experience with openweb why must I shut up about it? You on the other hand doesn't have any issues. I have an openweb 2mb gold uncapped account and it is not delivering the service I'm paying for, I believe I have a right to complain!

All you do is complain and bad mouth.

We have no interest in how well your AH account is doing.

If you want to go with an isp that shapes 24 / 7 that is your business and I wish you good luck and bid you goodbye kind sir.

Trust me If I was happy with my service I wouldn't be on here complaining. Ok explain this to me......

Why with my 2mb gold uncapped account I can't even do a speedtest, but with my 2mb uncapped afrihost account everything was running smoothly.

Now I'm back with afrihost everything is running fine again. It doesn't make sense!!!????

The reason I moved to openweb was because of all the good things I heard. So me stating my experience could help someone else from not making the same mistake.

Oh and you must stop stereotyping people - I'm not a sir ;-)

I am not here to cause trouble, I'm merely here to state my experience with openweb, isn't this what this thread is about????

So instead of attacking me explain to me why openweb doesn't work and my other account runs smoothly. How would you feel if you pay R299 for a service that isn't working.

Just had a bit of a burp here in Durbanville, couldn't even run a traceroute to www.google.co.za without it dying. Seems to be fine now, and I have to say, I've had no issues for a while now.

I'm quite happy with my OpenWeb account, thank you and it certainly works the way I expect it to. Overall, paying R200 odd Rand a month, and having a support desk that actually responds is well worth the money.

happened to be at home after 9 today. was pleasantly surprised. yet to test the remote work login though. reserve judgement until then.
