Yeah, how do you find out? My streaming has been borked for the whole of last week.

whatismyip.com

What is your IP, if it starts at 105 then it is MTN (Unless Openweb is using a range of IP's that belong to IS on their MTN network)

How do I check if I'm on MTN?

Clearly my internet is being throttled because downloading and browsing is painfully slow. Streaming and Skype is a no-go on.

EDIT:

Got a reply from Support and I'm on IS and my browsing is being shaped along with everything else on the Hero Uncapped package :(

i am also in the cape aria

so u were on IS and it was bad, then on mtn was not fixed, but when got back to IS it was all good?

Exactly that situation, was working fine for a few weeks then started performing poorly, got switched over to MTN, speedtest was great, HTTP downloads going quickly but streaming was poor but left it for a few weeks to keep trying. Got moved back on Sunday to IS and I can now stream HD with zero buffering, it is great again.

I have heard from a few mybb members that they also kept getting switched between networks to get things working and all eventually changed ISP's.

I am over have to log support tickets on a weekly basis just to stream Huluplus.

I have just reviewed the ticket, and need to correct a mistake made by Charmaine.

Browsing is NOT shaped. I have checked this myself. We do not shape browsing unless you download during peak. However, other items are shaped as the network is very busy.

I thought you don't shape browsing EVER? When did that change?

This policy has always been in place, and have been discussed on the forum on numerous occassions.

"We do not shape browsing unless you download during peak"

That means you will shape browsing if someone downloads during peak?

Ah, ok. I probably missed it. I was under the assumption, browsing is never ever shaped. Only downloads. My mistake.

I've been moved to the MTN Network. Streaming perfectly here. So not sure? I suppose streaming and latency would all depend on your location in South Africa.

I'm not downloading anything during peak. I remember having the same issue with the Vanilla account and you did a "browsing reset" or a re-route of some sorts and all was okay until I moved up to the Hero package.

My only complaint about OW is this. It's effectively throttling. How else can you explain my browsing being adversely affected?

Anyway, still great bang for buck :)

Streaming works, try downloading something.

Trying to download drivers for my new motherboard - 30KB/s this is on a 10Mb line and account

Concerned about this shaping of streaming services. If I ditch monochoice then I would need streaming during the day. The waY it sounds I'll be expecting too much if I'm not on an expensive gold account. For the life of me I can't understand why standard was discontinued. Now it's just everyday uncapped and the way beep speaks about it it sounds like a turd. Now the choice is the turd or gold or one if it's variants, no middle ground.

Wondering where it leaves users who can't get gold. With an after hours uncapped account by the sounds of it.
