Browsing is fine, but I'm not paying R738 a month for facebook and email.

http downloads at around 20KBps today. News and torrents still non-existent. Streaming unwatchable.

Mweb and Afrihost accounts running way better so it's not Telkom.

Massively disappointed so far on the 4Mbps Gold Uncapped
So they switched me off the MTN network and back to IS - everything running full steam ahead now :)
 
I signed up with Openweb today, as I had one of their trial acounts earlier this month and was blown away by the performance, got my account details changed my router settings and...My MWEB 1mbps account is currently downloading at 3x what the OW account is!
Oh, and the OW account is for 2Mbps!!! With the plan of going 4Mbps when the line upgrades later the week!

NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING!!!!...

that what i know is
@openweb.co.za = IS
@openweb.adsl = Mtn
 
i think mtn. but these are the worst accounts expecially in the day so i think they are the cheapest / worse quality bandwidth to buy & the first ones given out to the new customers ,hoping they work at the office in the day and only use the net at home at night when these accounts start working a lil better. i think these and mtn accounts are cheaper so they subsadize the cost of customers using/wanting internet solutions (openweb.co.za i think) accounts. i think the mtn accounts make more revenue so they are given first until the customer complaints.

I am on the Mynetwork.co.za domain...would that indicate MTN or IS?
 
how often do they update the user cp?

i got moved to a new network
and got new login details

but on the site they still show the old one

and only got the new ones on email,so if i forget it and dont have the email anymore
what then?

this happend b4 i asked for a password change,but they didnt update the user cp

I have been dealing with Telkom for the past few days and they know nothing, giving me a different excuse every time (the last technician just wanted to sell me Telkom internet instead of fixing my problem.
All I really want to know is...Is the problem with Telkom or OW?

Mynetwork is MTN, I've requested to be moved back to IS.
 
Does OW alert clients in they've been moved to MTN or is it at the clients request to move?

Send MrBeep a pm & ask for an alternative account. Request a trial account with Afrihost to see if you have the same issues if you don't win with OW.
 
You are only moved if we change your routing and you actually raise a ticket.

Thanks, I still have an account with mweb and a few others that I have some gigs left, I will have to check all of them to see where my problem is. What I don't understand is why for about one week of the month my internet is good and for the rest of the month it is absolutely ****? this has been going on for about a year now. I am not a heavy user! +- 20gig to 30gig per month. The Last Telkom technician I spoke to said they can throttle a user regardless of what ISP they use. So your ISP can throttle you and Telkom can add to that...sounds like BS to me. I have been with a few ISP's and it is always good for the first month and then it is **** after that. I don't like conspiracy theories but all the tinfoil in my house is tingling :P

Having a big problem.... Telkom upgraded me to 4 MB for free, therefore, I contacted Openweb on Sunday and asked to change my account from 2 MB Gold to 4 MB Gamers Kind (Downloaders Bling) account, this was done and everything was hunky dory. Today I switched off the router before I went to work, I come back and switch it on and it just sits on the connecting screen, won't connect to my account with Openweb. I restarted the router 3 times, no luck - just sits there. Tried my backup Cybersmart account and guess what, connects first time.... Is there a problem?
