well that sucks... are they going to release a new pricing plan? or do are the old rates going to apply from here on

They probably will down the line but you must understand that Telkom has essentially doubled the speed of the majority of their subscribers without dropping the costs for ISPs to match. I can understand why many ISPs wouldn't want to drop their prices as two things are going to happen, 1. ISPs are going to be making less profit and 2. ISPs will have to shape more aggressively to account for the extra bandwidth being consumed.

I honestly don't want either of those things, so if we get a price drop I just hope it doesn't affect the accounts performance.

I've lately seen my 2mb Gold account perform like that of a 4mb usually after hours.

Very impressed, Openweb.

Yeah. My line syncs at 6 meg, but I'm on a 4 meg account. When doing game downloads from Steam or Origin during off peak periods, I've often gotten 550k download speeds. Made pulling down all 25 gigs of BF4 a lot easier the other day.

Still it would be nice to get a bit of a discount if it's possible.

Could somebody tell me how many gb's they are able to pull down a month consistently on the original gold 2mb.

I am seriously considering moving from plugg since I am being HEAVILY shaped and I only did 111gb last month and under 3gb this month.

openweb dont trottle or anything
and u can use asmuch as u want

i used over 130gb with 2mbps gamers

and almost 200gb+ last month 2mbps gamers and from the 18th i was on 4mbps gamers

so with gold ,u will get even better speed (cuz u have more pirority than me)

My 2mb Gold is making me a very unhappy camper..:(

Same here, for three days now, during the day I max out at 3KB/s but after 18:00 it's flying :/ Mr beep reset my port yesterday and it seemed to get better, but back to crappy speeds today, pm'ed mr beep twice today and still haven't heard back even though he's been online.

All this on original gold, don't see the point of paying so much for gold and getting these speeds

You are getting the following other people are not:

1. Unshaped access almost ALL the time after 18:00 in the evening
2. An extra level of redundancy in case of network failure
3. A lower contention ratio
4. Soon - Priority support
5. Overall 30% more bandwidth than cheaper accounts

You are not paying more for just torrent downloads. If we unleash torrents on the network, we will end up like one of our competing ISP's, and trust me, those boys are moaning madly over there.

Question, I'm on a 4mb line, why is the mweb speed test showing my speed as 0.58mbps, but speedtest.net showing my speed as 3.53 mbps

My actual download speed while I'm streaming youtube is around 60kb which is representative of the 0.58mbps.

Why is speedtest.net results different?

Question, is Youtube streaming correctly (not buffering)?

I find some routes are faster than others too, why don't you try and download something instead (using multiple threads) and see what speeds you get in a real world test.

Speed is normal now, now that its after 18:00

Speedtest is extremely inaccurate.

To make matters worse, it is not showing your browsing speed, it is showing your download speed. Therefore, shaping will affect the speedtest results.

Most ISP's prioritize speedtest traffic. OpenWebbers have voted against this practise, thus we will not be doing it

We do hope you are enjoying the unshaped evening as much as we are ;p

Most ISP's prioritize speedtest traffic.

Sneaky ISPs! I always suspected but the very fact that they turn around and ask you for a speedtest whilst knowing full well what they are doing is just another example of the corruption in this country of ours.

Congested exchange. With all these speed upgrades who in this zoo is running the right or correct speed. Money for money.
Pound of flesh for a pound of money.:D

Browsing has been unusually slow since last night. Downloads seem to be running at full speed.

How do you check your usage on Openweb :wtf:

All I get when logging in is invoice details etc.

I had the same query, this is what Mrbeep sent me.

"At OpenWeb, we do not log usage stats on uncapped as we feel it goes against the essence of what uncapped stands for :)"
