So after upgrading my gamers king account to 2Mbps, I've been checking it out and its performing considerably slower than my old 1MB account. Something that got my attention was my old account was @openweb.co.za and my new account is @mynetwork.co.za. Could this have something to do with it?

Just popped in to say that my 10mb Gamer King account has been performing beautifully. It was almost unshaped all the way through the holidays, and I must say as much as I expected things to slow down once the work year started, it hardly has! Shaping has been very light, Netflix / Hulu is giving me a solid 720p (even in the middle of a working day), gaming is great, and downloads are pulling nicely.

I'm sorry to see others having trouble, but I thought I'd better at least show that not ALL the accounts have problems. People generally come here when there is a problem, but happy users usually keep quiet.

thats all good and well but it doesnt explain why ppl who are paying more for 'superior accounts' who were lead to belief they are paying for a superior product are getting poorer performance than cheaper accounts.

why are cheaper accounts performing better when it is advertised as the opposite leading to ppl paying more?

I set up my netflix this weekend and I must say its super awesome. My weekend of downloading changed to a weekend of streaming
Now if I can only get my kids and wife away from the tv.

Hi guys, my ingame latencies are very spike...but testing line and speeds and everyting is fine. PLease have a look at ping..why is 12 timing out? Started Wednesday internetz feels broken

Capped but exchange is congested. Trying to overcome exchange issues with capped account. Weekends are crap for me.
Speed becomes a issue. No ETA from Telkom still waiting. Received escalation number via Hello Peter but as usual no ETA.
That is why I normally have to do my downloading before the 7PM rush.

Titan has a higher contention ratio and lower priority on the network compared to the more expensive accounts.

It might affect your streaming yes.

Damn, HowTo, that's some serious exchange congestion. Mine peaks that high on rare occasions as well, but you're going to struggle to get decent internet in any form, from any ISP with that kind of nonsense. Make sure you report that to Telkom, every time it happens.

Probably best to get that sorted before contemplating paying for a premium ISP account...

I have an openweb gold 2mb acc which mentioned shaping during busy hours but seriously from the hours of 7 to 5 on weekdays I'm barely able to open Google let alone any other web page. Priority on gaming but I cant even log into xbox live during these hours. I was originally with mweb and left them for open web due to the promise of "zero throttling" but honestly I'd rather take mwebs constant throttling over what we're getting here. At least I could login to xbox live whilst being throttled. Upon phoning support we are given stories that our package is built that way but come on who on earth can do anything productive during the day with what seems like 5 to 10 Kbps. I apologize for the rant but I'm in dire need of something to work with here.

This makes me seriously nervous ....

I have just asked to go onto a Gold package - using the reasoning you get what you pay for - so that I can get some browsing sanity during the day.
Currently on gamers king, and have the same symptoms as you have described.....
