I created an account and just cancelled it not happy with the service. ( first impression last the longest.)
phoned for support and instead of the lady putting me on hold the support guy said take a message and dropped the phone.
Not a good start.

LOL! I'm sure she sent you on your way when you complained?

5gig since yesterday and no service interruption. At one point i was trying to browse and it was horribly slow, i then asked my gf and she was raping the net for torrents:P

Now I top up my account and end up with a new user name and now Openweb vs Telkom ...Openweb sucks ...??? It was great on my last account .

Hi Skynews,

I believe Leoni explained the situation. You did not topup the account, you purchased a new account, which placed you on the realm which does not work well at your exchange.

Please email [email protected] next time so that we can assign you to the correct realm.

Hi MrBEEP, would you please explain this 'realm' thingy to me, and how it can behave differently on a exchange?

Hi dews,

The exchange Skynews is using seems faulty. Thus he is limited to a specific routing that we use to reach the data centre.

I have nothing but praise for Openweb. I have been with them for years. Maybe it is anecdotal but I experienced an increase in the quality of the account over the last few months. Downloads are superb, gaming latency is excellent etc. I can't ask for more. And I am on the standard uncapped 4mbps account. If the account performs as well in the future, you have me locked in for life!

Our services are not throttled, they are shaped based on how busy the network is at any given time, and which service level you have chosen.

Do you subscribe to the IS throttling policy on these accounts?

I was playing WoW last week during the day and got 160 latency for a few hours. I couldn't believe that latency to EU could be so low. It was awesome!

A few years back we were used to latencies of 300 and 400 to Europe.

Lat year October I went to contract in Asia and then we had around 230-240ms (was spoilt in Asia with 5-10ms), got back thinking the worst, but to my suprise a consistant 160-170ms was been enjoyed, well until 24/10/2012. Until today with the test account I have just created on OW, 180ms is really liveable...

So no thresholds? If not, that seems very reasonable.

Hey MrBEEP - what kind of priority is put on Video streaming. Obviously this type of service can be very data intensive, but users will shred forums over video buffering, before they will complain about shaped P2P due to traffic.

I've recently made the move to OW (Budget Unshaped), but have not had time to make the observations myself, and am interested to know where I should be setting my expectations.

Hi ArtiXM,

Youtube and similar will be shaped last, however, if the network is under strain, they can be shaped.

Capped accounts are excluded from this, as are the Platinum and Gold Unshaped services

I have signed up for your gamer special. Will I pay this amount for life? You can't send me my details fast enough! :)

This page takes forever to load on my current account.
