How does the Gold capped account compare to the Gamers delight account?
If you're on the IS backbone goto http://users.isdsl.net/ and login with your routers username/password.
Im afraid this link does not work for all account types. Sometimes it presents pipe usage opposed to single usage.
Best is to email us to enable Stats on the Control Panel, if your account supports it.
Why would one need usage stats for uncapped anyways? That goes against the principle of uncapped![]()
Hi bokka1,
Gold Uncapped has a lower contention ratio and higher priority on the network than Gamers delight
How do you come to that conclusion? MrBeep tells you the Gold Uncapped has better priority and contention ratios, and then you come to the conclusion that it's the same as Gamer's Delight?
Bokka1 was asking about gold capped account not uncapped, so by saying he assumes it's the same he means he assumes the capped and uncapped are identical
Maybe I can help.I have a standard 1Mb/s account, long message
I'm on the Standard Uncapped 1mbs promo account and I'm getting shaped heavily on downloads since midday yesterday. YouTube is working fine but can't download a PDF pamphlet of Makro's site faster than 24kb/s.
Emailed support and they said I must log a fault with Telkom. Telkom did a port reset and the account ran fine for an hour but it returned to slow 24kb/s again
I'll report back after shaping is lifted this afternoon.
I have a standard 1Mb/s account, that has performed good in the past. I have been working away from home for a few weeks. During this time, I lost my home network due to a lightning strike via the phone line, and also had the phone line accidentally cut off by workers building a perimeter wall on the neighbour's erf. Long story short, my family had no Internet for about 3 weeks.
When I returned home and repaired the network, the first thing I noticed was a consistent maximum download speed of 45 kb/s, as if it is being throttled. I then suspected residual lightning damage on Telkom's side and currently have a line fault logged.
I have now tried to log into my Openweb control panel, however it seems as if my account is not supported. I then logged into the IS control panel on http://users.isdsl.net/, and noticed that my account have used a total of +180 GB so far for November, which is impossible since my line was out of commission for most of the month. On the "Current/Incomplete Sessions" panel, I saw another user from Pieterburg, with a completely different IP, using my Openweb login code and password.
I would like some straight answers for the following questions from MrBEEP:
1) Why is my account not supported on the Openweb user's control panel, where I can change my password, ensuring that I am the ONLY user on my account?
2) Have I acted prematurely by logging a line fault with Telkom, and will now be charged a service fee if no fault can be found, when the real problem is automatic throttling that has kicked in due to excessive usage?
3) If you hand out the same login code and password to multiple users on the same account, how will you ensure a good Internet experience for all, if one user abuses the account, and causes automatic throttling kicking in from the backbone?
Hi Mr Beep,
Im currently with Mweb on their 1MB uncapped account. I been thinking about upgrading to their 2MB uncapped offering but the price is outrageous!
I'm thinking about joining up with OpenWeb as your pricing is way better.
I wanna know if I can get a test account to play around with and evaluate your network?
Hi Fox1,
I have taken a look at your account, and shaping is within reasonable parameters. The mere fact that your account sped up after Telkom resets your port points to a fault on their side.
Please log an official fault with them
