Nice to see the "Gamer's Delight, Downloader's Right" special is back. I'm VERY tempted to just order it. I did a speedtest on my broadband a few mins ago and this is what I got:

Test conducted on Fri Dec 14 2012 00:05:59 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 62 kbps (7.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 379 kbps (47.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 249 ms

I'm on a 30gig Axxess Lite account and 1mb line speed. Every page I load, takes almost 5 mins. Online gaming is an absolute pain at the moment, struggled with an international latency of over 4k on world of warcraft last night and tonight. I can't carry on like this, I'll go insane. Telkom has tested my line and it's in perfect working order. We live in Stilfontein (Klerksdorp area). I suppose my question is, would it be feasible for me to move onto OW's Gamer's Delight package taking into account where we live? My fiance and I are avid online gamers and downloaders (download the odd torrent for series' and stream youtube often enough).

Like I said, I'm very tempted to just "make the move" but I need some kind of feedback on how well it works and if we'll have smooth and joyful internet experience with it.

Also, should I order the Gamer's delight package approximately how long does it take to activate the account/debit order?

Sum Ting Wong ?? Openweb lagging, do speedtest peeks at 6Meg and just drops off down to around 4Meg and dies .....switch to telkom and shoots to 6Meg and stays up there and completes test at full speed ??

Please check

We cannot find any issues currently. We tested your account and it is running at full speeds

Hi MrBeep

Somethings up with the default DNS servers. No joy until I forced the DNS to 8.8.8.8.

Hey Friends

We have unshaped our network as follows:

Gold and Platinum accounts at 17:00
Vanilla, Standard and Silver Uncapped at 18:30

The network will remain unshaped for the entire weekend.

Happy downloading!

There are alot of Telkom network errors currently causing issues.

If your internet access stops working, I would suggest you give Telkom a call on 10210 so that they can see whether you are affected

Apparently it supposed to be unshaped but according to my speed tests during weekends and afterhours, it is definitely still shaped. International speeds are definitely not in full speed mode but isn't so bad that it slows down to a crawl. If this really is unshaped, then that would be awesome!

Hi yoydna,

The network is totally unshaped as per my message.

If you are experiencing a problem, please email [email protected] so that it can be investigated

I've been having authentication issue since yesterday evening. I'm quite sure that it's got nothing to do with my line because as soon as I switched to my Afrihost account, internet comes back on again. No joy with Openweb support desk. They seem fixated that problem must be on my side and refused to even attempt to help. I'm hoping that somehow the system have accidentally changed my account password which is the cause for authentication error. I have asked for my password to be reset and that was ignored. Have again asked for it to be reset. Maybe this time around, someone will listen...

You and me both man.

DON'T want to hear from Leoni anymore. Anyone else but her. (Hate her "Call telkom on 10210 "advice" when I told her THREE times it's not my line. ) Yet she REFUSES to give me new log in details. FIRST time in 3 years that I'm not happy with OW. :(

Hey Mr Beep, just a suggestion that might help with the authentication issues:

My line is terribly attenuated and I have had to hack my router to spoof the DSLAM into giving me a much higher connection rate than it would otherwise reasonably give (it runs at over 300% faster than what a "normal" router will synch at). As a result my line drops from time to time - which I'm quite fine with.

What I've noticed on my OW account is that I can only login successfully to the ADSL network at most once every 2 minutes, and at most 3 times for every 5 minutes. Other ISP accounts I use don't deny the authentication with a router rebooting every 30 seconds, but your IS Gold accounts seem to be. Maybe can you try change a value somewhere that lets us get authenticated when the router reboots or resynchronizes a couple times a minute?

Maybe all the authentication issues are with peoples' routers synching, logging in, sending the password to your servers, getting authenticated, the line drops right after authentication, router resynchs, sends password and gets denied authentication.

Just a suggestion.
