Hope to get some recommodations, I am looking to move to Openweb from 1 Feb and trying to decide on the right package.

4Mbit line, average usage of 200Gb pm. Little use during daytime of the week but heavier use in the evenings and on weekends. No gaming and very limited use of VPN for company, maybe 2Gb pm. Which package would be most suitable? I am coming from a 4Mbit MWEB uncapped account but unhappy with the pricing.

I have some questions regarding the 4Mb Gold accounts:
1. Is it shaped? If so, what is getting shaped?
2. Any throttling if you are a heavy user/downloader?
3. How is the latency for gaming? Specifically to the EU WoW servers.

I have a 4mbps Gold and have been very happy with it.

1. It's shaping works on how busy the network is between 8am and 5pm and not per user.... That what i find usually on NNTP.
2. I'm a heavy downloader i have done over 800Gb in the last 2 months and HAVE NOT been throttled at ALL....
3. Mine i get 140ms to 150ms...

Go for their current special on the 4mbps Gold account. I can personally tell you, you will not go wrong.

No, that would mean actually paying lamost R50 more than I currently am on my Mweb account and I have never run into any issues there. What's the difference between Vanilla and Standard and would a Vanilla account be sufficient for this usage?

I won't be able to answer you there maybe blunt answer can help a bit :

I'm on Vanilla, I work from home, I use torrents for downloads but I cap them to 50kBps during the day time hours due to the fact that I am working; and I don't really spend a lot of time on the net after 8PM, neither do I watch my torrents like a hawk but they do tend to go at decent speeds when I do watch them and new series that come out are finished pretty quickly.

Latency is great, speedtests for the most part are full line speed (4MB), I stream spotify all day and watch quite a fair amount of streaming video, been testing out my roku today and streaming was without any issues.

I don't game and prefer my torrent setup to NNTP so I can't really say much on that from a Vanilla perspective. This months usage is @ 100GB. At the moment there is no reason why I would want to change to a higher package due to this one suiting my needs and running as expected, which is why I wonder what the difference really is on the higher packages.

1) Depends how busy network is, 95% of the time its clogged.. during the day so that expected
2) not that i have seen
3) i get 190-220ms during the evening, if i try during the day.. rather read a book. that sits at 700-3000ms

But its a good account overall
 
KoKaRoT, I think you should check your line or exchange for congestion. My 1mb gold account does not work like that at all.

1. Full speed on http and Steam downloads during the day. P2P gets shaped, but I can usually get 50kb/s during daytime, so it's still usable.
2. Openweb doesn't throttle
3. I'm on the IS network and latency is amazing. I get sub-200 pings to european servers any time of the day. WoW latency usually hangs around 170-180 at any time during the day. American servers (lord of the rings online, etc) I usually get 250 ping.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I signed up for a Gold account :) Zewp, how do you know on which network you are and how do you go about changing it?
 
55GB used since the 27th. This account is AWESOME. Cant wait for Gold in Feb.
Pings to SAIX Rosebank is 63... It NEVER moves.... Its weird how consistent it is at 63. Tried with MWEB trial and still stayed. Happy with OpenWeb.

Is that on the Vanilla? Is that all you needed or all you could use?
