Hi Pakka,

Please can you email support@openweb.co.za with these details, including your ADSL username.

We will investigate for you

Hi Mr. Beep.

I just got my first ADSL line (1mb) and I have an Openweb Gold account. I use my connection for playing Xbox live and torrent downloads.

Previously I have been using a wireless SP, also with a 1mb connection (but heavily shaped). However, with that connection I had no problems playing on Xbox live.

Since I moved to a DSL line I have been unable to enjoy playing online. I get disconnected from games every now and then. It is as if the connection times out.

I don't run any other internet services while playing.

I have no idea what this means, but it might help!

Please let me know if you need my account details

:)

Thank you

Faster than 99% of SA... .... ....

My speedtest shows 3.6mbs on a 4mbs line. Im on a silver account too.

Do CMD, Tracert Google.co.za and post results. I smell congestion.

Nope, traceroutes and pings are nominal. It's almost like I'm being throttled..

not likely...

maybe you just need that "port reset" that MrBeep did for me... you only need to wait 30 mins.
(perhaps reset your router, too, I dunno?)

Hi Jacques

We do not log usage stats on most of our uncapped products as this goes against the essence of what uncapped stands for.

Many ISP's log your usage so that they can send unnecessary abuse notifications and enforce rigorous throttling upon you. We do not subscribe to these absurd ideas,

Quick question, is there a dashboard were I can see my data usage for the month? I don't see it on the client login @ www.openweb.co.za.

Thanks!

Question:

I'm on capped 50Gb, I only used 30Gb this month, does the 20Gb carry over to the next month? How many months does it carry over for?

Hi iSteve

Capped data does not carry over from month to month.

Hi Seeyou,

There are no issues on the network at all.

We do not throttle. If you are experiencing this speed, kindly email support@openweb.co.za with your ADSL username so that we can investigate

Your support team is trying to tell me it's my line. However, this is my current result with my Openweb Silver account:

And this is from an Afrihost capped account:

MTN's local peering is crap, so the AH ping is significantly higher - but I would not be able to achieve max line speed on another account if it were a line fault.

Try set your primary DNS to 208.67.222.222 and secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8

Kudos to MrBeep and Openweb support - the new routing did the trick and the account is screaming along again. This level of support/service and the value for money of the account have landed you another loyal customer!
