Your support team is trying to tell me it's my line. However, this is my current result with my Openweb Silver account:

And this is from an Afrihost capped account:

MTN's local peering is crap, so the AH ping is significantly higher - but I would not be able to achieve max line speed on another account if it were a line fault.

I have had the exact same issue with OW and I have been told thats its my line and its clearly not since ive tested 2 other accounts that fly...

I am leaving them and moving to Plugg since the Plugg trial account was exactly 3 times fast then my OW Downloaders Right Account.

Yeah, I'm on the 4M Gamers Delight package and I also gave up. Extreme lag and rubber-banding.

Not supposed to happen with this account and on a weekend on top of it.

Also experiencing sluggish speeds on 2mb Gold account. Only today though, Internet was fine yesterday (and before that).

Hey MrBeep

Why is it when I enter the DNS server settings into my router, then my YouTube streams perfectly but when I remove the DNS settings, I go back to getting only 22kb/s streaming speeds?

Hi Fox1,

Please try these DNS settings:

Primary DNS: 168.210.2.2
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Does it make a difference?

There was a fault earlier today causing slower speeds. Engineers have found the fault and corrected it.

We do apologise for the inconvenience. If you are still experiencing problems, please email support@openweb.co.za so that we can investigate.

Ah, that's what it was then. Saw a bunch of Telkom techies working in my street today, thought it was their fault :D

I'm a new 4mbps Gold uncapped user. So far I'm extremely happy with the speed. I know you cannot test it in one day but I'm happy to download on nntp at much higher speeds than with my previous ISP's. That is some nice bursting from Openweb. Now to test some gaming.

MrBeep with ****web joining the IS backbone can we expect a degraded service with your accounts now?

Hi semaphore.

No. The service will not degrade, as our accounts have no link to theirs except the company that provides then.

We supply our own unique set of products and service levels.

Yes, but the reason some of us worry is that IS was really bad early last year and when Afrihost left the network the IS network suddenly improved tenfold.

Yeah no matter how much policies are in place, if IS start over loading their links with this second rate ISP we gonna have issues.

Are you saying that OpenWeb too were very bad early last year on the IS network?

No, I'm saying the IS network suffered from performance issues when Afrihost relaunched their uncapped last year, and the performance issues went away when Afrihost left.

Openweb makes use of multiple backbones, not just IS.
