Although I had a problem during the course of last month it was resolved and my 50GB capped account have been flying. I am very happy.

I just hope that the WA army coming to the network don't end my happiness.

To be fair, I've only ever had a Gold Uncapped account and never had any account issues (only ever issues with Telkom) in the year or so that I've used it

For the past few months I've been extremely happy with Openweb. But today I'm having problems with international browsing. I can load and navigate local websites perfectly, but no international sites will load. Does anyone know if it might be a Telkom problem or if something else is wrong? Last night the internet was perfect as usual but today international is non-existent. Anyone else having the same problem?

Hi 6Darkie9

There are no general issues currently. Can you please drop a mail to support@openweb.co.za so that we can investigate for you

Hi No-Rules,

No, we do not throttle, full stop.

Shaping is based on how busy the network is at any given time. Last night was unshaped as the network was not busy, thus you should've reached full speed.

Kindly email support@openweb.co.za so that we can investigate

Whats the difference between the Standard & Gold (i see both are on promotion on the homepage) - both are unthrottled, both low contention,

Only think i can see from the page is the failover?

Hi Naeem,

Gold has a much lower contention ratio than Standard uncapped, and a higher priority on the network.

Hi Wasp_21

The Gamers accounts were on a limited edition release. Nothing however is impossible...

I got a trial account from Openweb and so far so good.

175 ping during the day in League of Legends (30 better than Mweb).
175 at night (about the same as Mweb).

I also noticed that at peak hours Mweb's service tends to get "hiccups" in that the service just freezes for a minute or so. During one of these hiccups I switched over to the Openweb trial account and it was business as usual. Looks like Openweb shall be getting a new customer next month.

So... I as a current (and very happy I might add) Openweb client, I'm not allowed to cancel my current package in favour of a special. But what if the special is a R100pm (or more) saving on my current non-special price...

So, maybe I should cancel, use someone else (ugh) for a month or two, and then come back when I spot another special...?

Most Openweb clients are probably happy enough not to leave, but how about periodic "specials" (annually?) where loyal clients get a permanent discount, e.g. R50 off their current package. I realize attracting new clients is probably higher priority, and giving discounts to existing clients is throwing away money, but sooner or later someone is going to wonder if provider X at a saving of Rxxx pm is not worth trying...

Or give people discounts for referrals?

Hi jano

Kindly email mrbeep@openweb.co.za with your ADSL username so that we can compare your account to the special account.

99% of the time we will find that you are on a superior contention ratio than the promotional service.

Hi Tim

It is still running. It is on the front page below the Standard Uncapped promotion :)

Hi
MrBeep, I am a recent convert from Afrihost, after being able to test Openweb on a trial account. Currently as of today international speeds are basically non-existant. I have called the support centre, they took my number and claimed they would get back to me. So it has been a number of hours. (can't even open Speedtest.net, config fails to load) and when I followed up on call centre was informed that a number of clients are having a similar issue, but there is not a problem with the international speeds as a whole.

So my question here, based on previous response by yourself, that clients on the special offers do not have the same contention ration as the normal rate clients. Does this include Gold Accounts when comparing a regular subscriber, and a promotion subscriber?
