Anyone else having problems today with their NNTP?

My SABnzbd is crawling... not sure if it's actually a problem somewhere, or if the network is just busy today?

Kudos to MrBeep and Openweb support - the new routing did the trick and the account is screaming along again. This level of support/service and the value for money of the account have landed you another loyal customer!

What did they do? Can you elaborate on 'new routing'?

Hey Friends,

Wow, today was busy! A warm welcome to all the new OpenWebbers!

Our unshaping schedule for the weekend is as follows. (yes, that is correct. We will be unshaping the entire network for the weekend).

Your account will be unshaped on Friday (today) based on the service level you are on:

Platinum: 17:10
Gold and Silver: 17:30
Standard, Vanilla and Gamers King / Delight: 18:30

Happy downloading!

BONUS for this weekend only! - We will be bursting your account speed whenever extra capacity is available throughout the network. The bursting mechanism will work as follows:

384k and 1Mbps clients can burst up to 2Mbps
2Mbps clients can burst up to 4Mbps
4Mbps clients can burst up to 10Mbps
Higher end clients already have full speed :)

You'd have to try get MrBeep to elaborate - but according to him, the account is now using different routing through the exchange. That's about as technical as the explanation got, but I can't argue with the results!

It is a change of how your exchange routes. Without getting too technical, if our solution works, it works well.

Hi Keeper,

We aren't experiencing any general issues. Is it looking better now?

That's a big 10-4, MrBeep - Hyperdrive Thrusters have been re-engaged!

Question about the bursting - I assume you can only burst from 1Mbs to 2Mbs if you have a 2Mb line, or does this work?

Hi Keeper,

Correct. Bursting will only work if you have a faster line than the account you have purchased :)

Based on your second hop, I would say your exchange is congested.

Amazing....

I have been with Openweb for 5 days now and to be honest, my account does not feel shaped... ever?

Same. I'm just crossing my fingers that it stays as is. And it has for the last couple of months things look promising.
Thanks Openweb.

so applied for the Mweb uncapped trial last night. 6pm some guy calls, takes my details and then puts me on hold for 5 minutes. I hung up.

7:43pm i email openweb for a 2meg uncapped trial.
7:45pm i get a reply with a 48hour trial.

My line is synced at 3072 downstream.
using a 2meg uncapped, speedtest below:

did an http download, averaged 80 to 90kb - that said it was from Themeforest.net (they're never really that fast even on capped unshaped)

ftp was a breeze and worked great.

youtube rarely buffers. on HD it buffers for a bit to gain momentum and then chugs along nicely.

qued up a torrent - average speed after 7minutes was 98kb/s - and climbing - such is torrents obviously, depends on seeders and health. Started a bit slow and now peaking at figures nearer to 200kb/s

edit to add

Torrent is now flying at 260kb/s with average speed up to 196 an climbing.

MrBeep, I hope you guys keep growing and keep these levels of service. It's simply awesome.

Semi-jokingly, is it possible (or will it be in the future) to buy non-managing shares in Openweb?
