I just singed up for Gamers King (Downloaders Bling) 10Mbps account :D Cant wait to see what its capable of. I never keep my line with my ISP, heard too many horror stories of lines being cancelled etc.

I would rather place blame on your current ISP than on OpenWeb, as they are not releasing you from your contract.

Email i got:
Cancellations Department, Mar 04 11:45 (EET):

Your account will expire at the end of April 2013 as per the calendar months cancellation notice period required.

OpenWeb Cancellations Department

Speaking of which - mine is supposedly being ended end of April thats 1month and 26days of being in the 'cancellation' notice period.

Not that cool to be honest... im being held up by another month

Back when i was Afrihost.. I just had to cancel before the debit order run 26th.

___
Could we come to some sort of compromise and cancel that account with immediate effect and avoid the 2month cancellation period (taking into account that the OW data account is not in use)

IF you cannot approve this - Could you direct me to someone higher up?

got a test account this morning for gamers king...

Really impressed will be buying asap.

Regarding latency around the world between mweb or wa and openweb the differences are not statistically significant.

Torrents work on mweb/wa but not as well as on openweb, this is during the day mind you. Youtube also appears faster on openweb than mweb. mweb's gaming is fine and wa seems fine after their move to IS. This account however seems to give that extra guarantee even if there's no real difference between the other ISPs.

I think this is a happy medium.

my standard 1mb uncapped ran hard when on trail. now im shaped on the same account after subscribing. and i confirmed the type of account with the customer service dude.

just make sure you get what you asked for. trail accounts should perform like the normal account. otherwise whats the point?

The word you looking for is trial, a trail is something you walk or leave behind you.

When you tested your account, the network was more than likely quiet.

Because our shaping is dynamic, we cannot guarantee speeds.

You can however agree that mostly after hours you are getting unshaped speeds?

We do not give different accounts out for trial, and then suddenly shape you when you signup. This would be a silly thing to do.

so why do you get a trail? not to check the performance level of a product? should it not be an indicator of future performance level.

what would be the point if you didnt judge the performance based on your trail?

yes my speeds after hours is schexy. no complaints. ohk the rest of you throttle your speeds so that i can get more than 10KB/s. :p

Would you rather suggest we do not give out trial accounts?

I cannot see how this will help as a trial account is identical to the commercial product the client will purchase.

all im saying is that getting a trail account that runs hard during business hours and then you sign up and get 10KB/s. any normal person would be like :wtf:

i was on telkom capped before so im used to nothing during the day. so ive been conditioned in a way. but i understand that to get good speeds during the day i have to be on a better account.

im happy with my account. was just perplexing to see the different day speeds trail vs actual.

You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Yup, just to irritate the OCD amongst us. :wtf: Well, it's working.

It's driving me insane. :wtf: I'm trying to read the comments, and I keep on reading it incorrectly because he/she is using the wrong word. [T.R.I.A.L. It's not difficult]

How long does openweb take to respond to email?

Perhaps MrBEEP, if you're here, can assist. Im currently on a promotional vanilla account and im keen on switching to the gamers king account currently on promotion. I phoned the number on the website, got instructed to send an email and did so. This wad at around 12:00-13:00. No response yet. Can you assist with this? :)

@Grizz: When did you cancel the account? A calendar month is a whole month, thus if you give notice on 1 March then the contract will be cancelled end of April. If you gave notice on 28 February then it will be cancelled end of March.
