Unshaped downloading is a little ambiguous with the new gamer accounts. Is the entire connection unshaped or is it specific stuff like torrents, usenet, Rapidshare etc?

standard uncapped nntp is shaped to 10KB/s for business hours for me. gaming and surfing is fine though. hence my question about the shaping on that gamers accounts.

I'm not concerned about performance during office hours, as long as browsing runs somewhere close to the account speed and Youtube works. I download large files overnight, and if I must get a music album or something during the day I'll get it over http.

Anyone having any issues streaming currently? 4mb gold IS. Anything over 360p needs to be paused and left to buffer for a while.

i am on 6mb Gold Uncapped, and i cannot stream 360p video without stopping and buffering , and its been like this for the last three weeks... it seems that i am not on Gold Uncapped but on their lowest package. Web browsing is OK

No issues here, last night I was streaming 1080p YouTube with zero buffering on a 4Mbit line.

Anyone else having general speed issues at the moment? Youtube buffers every 10 seconds at 360p, http downloads max out at 40kB/s and general browsing is very sluggish.

... however, if I switch to the MWEB account that I cancelled so I could move to OpenWeb, then I get these speeds:

yesterday average download speed - around 200kbps on my 2mb like.
today average download speed - around 140kbps on my 2mb line.
60kbps disappeared overnight.

cybersmart - 220kbps
afrihost - 225kbps
axxess - 222kbps
webafrica 226kbps
all on the same line.

Kindly email [email protected] so that this can be investigated.

I conducted several speed tests before and after 5pm, and the only conclusion I can come to is that I'm being throttled. i thought that OpenWeb had improved, but this is the exact same problem that caused me to cancel my account last year. It's not good enough for an R899pm service (4Mbps Gold unshaped).

my openweb 2mb gold account is officially dead since earlier tonight.

my other isp accounts are working just fine.

I am currently connected to the account sending you this mail.

I have also tested the account on our test line in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Nelspruit, and it works as it should.

Hi Gareth

openweb 2nd test
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2558907636.png

these tests had been done in about 16 or 18 minutes time. whats interesting is the fact that both openweb's tests are significently slower than the other isp's.

i did log a fault with telkom. they say my line is fine. they had reset and recreated my port.

i've also used 3 diffirent routers, a tp-link, a billion and a netgear.

there's something wrong with my openweb gold account wether you like it or not. its staying erratic and slower every day.
