I would like to know if any1 else having the problem where your account at openweb suddenly disconnects?

In the past I phoned and they mailed me through my account details and sumhow my password for my account changed whiched caused me to disconnect.

This has happened twice last year and when I returned as openweb customer its been 10 days and it seems to be happening again.

This causes me to use my backup axxess account.

Personally I would like to share my thoughts on my experience with openweb.

1. Very very poor service. I know that Keoma runs around trying to get to every1's queries and deserves credit for the effort, but as far as their call centre is concerned, it far below par.

2. Isp's today offer 24/7 telephonic support. Mr Beep does respond on weekends but it goes much quicker at for instance Axxess. It is close to impossible reaching support on weekdays via telephone.

3. The 30 gig local account. This truly is great. As far as I know only Web - Africa can match this for R130.

4. Openbrowse(openrouter), now there is something that's not effective at all. I understand that for the price it does wonders, but my problem is that if you advertise it as openbrowse 512, you would expect that speed. Instead at best it feels slower than a normal 384 shaped. Most of the time it bursts like a wireless connection. It could be dead for 30 secs and suddenly burst a few kb's and then be dead for another 30 secs.

To summarize, I just feel that Openweb could be the best if they could sharpen up their support and communication. Openbrowse needs to be re - classified so that customers can know what the true speed is they can expect. A good package is nothing if its not effective.

Any 1 else care to share their experiences with Openweb?

Hi 14596601;2775732

I thank you for your thread on MyADSL.

I am sorry to see that you find OpenWeb to be below par.

We always try our very best to provide the most affordable ADSL packages, with excellent Customer Support.

Have you activated a query on one of our support channels?

If not, kindly PM myself so that I can investigate the root cause of your problem.

Kind Regards
MrBEEP

Hi SPY

I am sorry you are finding our company to be 'bulls@#t'.

Kindly PM me your name and surname, email address and physical address so that I can personally apologise.

I had a problem with the Openweb VPN - 30GB. It was very slow, about 1-5KB/s. PM MrBeep for the past 5 days. Problems still has not been resolved. I think someone had a similiar problem last week, but I can't remember the thread it was on. Anyway, let's see what happens next.

I'm on day 5 and OpenBrowse do not work!
NEVER do business with these guys as they'll blame you for their incompetence and to top it off they have a NO REFUND policy.
Well done for another company with atrocious service.

Hi mcbotha

I appreciate your post on this thread.

I have emailed you a few possible solutions which I have not yet had any feedback on.

Whilst in contact with Paul from the call centre yesterday, he too furbished you with an additional backup account, the exact account I am using at this moment to reply to your post.

What is the feedback on this account?

Please PM it to me.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

I've tested EVERY suggestions within an hour of receiving them and have given feedback after EACH, still OpenBrowse do NOT work!

OK, you've made some headway.

What works:
1) IE
2) Portable Chrome

What doesn't work:
1) Skype
2) Google Talk
3) Portable Firefox
4) Ubuntu 9.04 cannot browse international sites
4) Ubuntu 9.04 repositories cannot be accessed even though they are local (RSA, Botswana, Namibia)

Skype use P2P so I don't think it will/should work.
Google Talk, gmails is not working properly for the past several week. Think this is a general issue with openbrowse?

Portable firefox, setup the proxy manually as I think as it's portable, openrouter won't be able to detect its path and automatic setup proxy.

Don't use Ubuntu.

I have setup Portable Firefox maually and still it doesn't work.
To not use Ubuntu is not an option as all our web servers run Ubuntu and so does 60+% of ALL web servers!

I meant I don't use Utuntu so can't help.

I have used Openweb for the last couple of years, usually the IS Fibre offerings, and found them to be excellent. Never had a single problem. I highly recommend them.

Lucky you. I'm also on IS fibre 30GB account and have serious problems ... every hour or so the connection seems to disappear ... DNS lookups take ages, sites take ages to load. Then it resolves itself for another hour or so.

Tonight the connection is a joke ... who can work at less than dialup speeds to overseas? (local like to here seems fine).
