Seems there are some issues with international at the moment. International on our mweb line at the office went down yesterday afternoon and today again and now seems to be affecting my openweb account too.

On which backbone are you? I haven't been having any issues on VB?

How is the VB network these days. DSLHeaven is not bad but not as good as VB was ?

My 4mb line has been like this for days. I'm on Gold. What gives?

Still very erratic. Sometimes it just slows down to almost nothing and then a few moments later it's nice and fast again. Currently experiencing one of those MUCH slower moments again.....

So how is VB shaping up these days, back to it's super self yet?

For me it's better now than it was when international HTTP access was hugely problematic for a long time in the recent past.

HTTP is mostly back to normal, but sadly NNTP, which was perfect before, now performs at a notably lower level overall, but still at an acceptable rate for a shaped account.

In short, in my experience VB has regained some composure, but no, it's not yet back to its grand old self of a few months back.

Strange how users from different parts of the country seem to experience it differently.

Agreed, I can't understand how for some users VB gives no problems, whilst for others it's problematic. I'm on a DSLHeaven account at the moment and it's still running superb, NNTP full speed, downloaded a torrent yesterday (something that I do once in a blue moon) and even that went full line speed. Youtube is still streaming like a champ, some minor buffering on HD videos but 360p/480p no problem.

So I'm still happy with DSLHeaven (aka Webafrica backbone) :)

I've seen the above "weird issue" with both DSL-H and VB. Even a friend that lives just 10km away has different (sometimes better, sometimes worse) internet than me, and we are both on the same accounts (VB/DSL-H). I think it's all down to the internet fairy :p

Hi. any one else having international problems, so far today i can only access mybroadband, bing. No gmail , facebook.
On the bcsnet account.

12:18. seems to be working now :)

What are your pings like on dsl heaven? I was moved there because of poor download speeds but now my ping is around 70ms (according to Speedtest) on a 1MB line.

I am on 42ms. Anything up to 80ms is good in my opinion

I had the following pings on DSL-H:
Pta -> WAGE (ctn) 40ms
Other local: 60ms

US (Los Angeles) : 300-odd ms
EU (London) 180-190ms

I know WA is working on getting the network sorted out.
If you aren't keen on this network at the moment, maybe ask MrBeep to move you to VB for the time being?

I did, he said he can only do it on 1st of February :( dunno why. Thank you Froot :)
