Axxess or Openweb for uncapped account

Thats right, if you don't go over your 5G rolling threshold then you get full speed during the day as well - no throttled speed ie. 384KB/s . After 8pm you get the full speed taking over "You will still have the FULL line speed after 8pm on weekdays and the weekend. This means that if you have a 4Mb/s line, you will get 4Mb/s speed, even if you only have a 384Kbps account! "

Those guys on their Top 10 list however, I don't think will ever, ever again see speeds of 384 kb/s after their first 5gb :p
 
The fibre accounts are not unshaped. I still have to use my WebAfrica prepaid for low latency when playing WoW, the fibre uncapped is usually more than double the latency.

Not really, there is an IS Business Uncapped option that runs at full speed all the time, but it's even more overpriced than the Uncapped Express product.

No they haven't. Uncapped Express+ is still R999 per month.

My bad got excited for nothing saw an advert on another page... It was for plain express :(
Then the SAT 3 improvement is also a downer as Telkom say they will stick with SAT3 until EASSY
Damn I had hoped...

You do realise it's always been R899? And R999 for the fibre line which is suppose to be unshaped but isnt?

I rarely see anything but full speed after hours on the axxess express + account. Perhaps the reason others are not experiencing full speed is due to them not understanding the concept of overheads. On a 4mbps account in SA the full speed will be roughly in the regions of 3.6mbps. In fact i have rarely ever seen speeds below this, except perhaps when there is an issue on the IS side, which doesn't happen very often at all. Of course there are many factors that could contribute to people not seeing these speeds, such as line attenuation (distance from the exchange), noise margis, etc.

As for those saying the account is not unshaped i really don't know about that either as i seem to get exactly the same latency during the day as i do after hours, and it has always been farely good latency. Some international servers i see as low as 180-200 ms and on local servers i get an average of about 11-12 ms.

Depending on the number of seeds and peers on torrents i usually get more than 3 mbps on these as well. Of course you do have to take into account the fact that with torrents you are continuously hoping between users and there is more overhead due to the trackers being updated and the continueous comminication between you and other peers/seeds. Also you can expect a fair bit of fluctuation with torrents as you are always gaining and losing peers/seeds and they are generally never sharing at the exact same speed.

IMO moving to this account was the best move I have ever made and I am sure that should you have no other issues outside of the control of Axxess and IS you would be extremely happy with their service.

Yes, I am definitely getting this account. I was going to go for Axxess, but after mailing Openweb, Keoma offered me the same price for a similar account, so I am now happily staying with them. Thanks Keoma, if you are reading this thread. :D
 
I am currently using Axxess uncapped the best way to go for full line speeds is to subscribe to astraweb or giganews and use grabit or altbinz.Tried using torrents did not get good speeds,no with astraweb running full 400k/bts after 7pm.Doing about 500 gig in first month of usage.
 
What latency do you have on these uncapped connections via IS (Axxess/Openweb)?

IE to 63.240.193.14 (USEast Battle.net)?
or 80.91.251.245?

1st IP I get an average of 300ms
2nd IP I get an average of 330ms

On the Axxess 384 Express+ Fibre account at 05:37 PM

Well i just ran a trace route and the first ip is routed to the US and the second is going to the UK via the US so it is not bad latency... Perhaps the saix shaped just wasn't as shaped as you thought. I.E. the lines are not congested enough to effect your latency much. A shaped account will always appear to be unshaped until the lines become congested enough to actually make the prioritisation noticeable.
