i did not download anything today..just played xbox live..then try to download thsi 140MB file what is taking a hour..im in mossel bay...im with mweb also, but i get 109kb/s 24/7 on http... ill be happy if i just get 90kb/s on http.....

MR Keoma moved my acc...all is 100% now...thank you sir! hope it remain so :)

How about no speed!! Phoned OpenWeb because during work hours, getting less than 3kB/s, if I'm lucky. No everything fine on their side, reset things for me. I wait half an hour (what takes so long to reset, I don't know), restart router, same crap speeds.

And this has been going on since the beginning of the year. And this month I changed to a Gold 384k account from a Standard account - "for the better contention factor". Well its worse than what I had before. And it is definitely OpenWeb that is the problem as everything was going at full speed (+- 40kB/s) up until 7am this morning, when it died.

Last week i emailed Keoma and get the standard reply - that there is a Telkom fault (same as 3 weeks ago) - and yet at times (2am in the morning) I get full speed. What a load of s..... Time to jump ship as this one has sunk.

Currently trying to download a pdf from Gmail, 2.4M, and 40minutes later I am 47% done with "unknown time remaining". Oh hold on, up to 1.5kB/s after a 10 minute break of 0kB/s. YIPPEE

So much for being a long time client, over a year, with no problems with payments on a prepaid account. It means diddly s..t.

If you ask me, they should open a lingerie shop - pay more, get less. It would suit there policies better.

DSLHeaven has been pathetic the past month or so. Used to be perfect - full speed, no packet loss, amazing international pings, etc. Now I usually get 100KBps, constant timeouts, high packet loss and ping spikes.

Hopefully this gets sorted out soon, or another backbone with similar benefits is introduced.

Weird, no problems my side the past month, still going strong this side, maybe ask MrBeep for another DSLHeaven account and test.

Well i am on the dslheaven boat so i hope i get an account as good as yours. I have spend 200 bucks on axxess bandwidth for gaming which is not ideal when i am paying 700 smackers for uncapped. Granted it is awesome for downloading but i don't download more than about 80 gb so the best of both worlds would be good.

The thing annoying me as well is websites that timeout immediately on VB. Very frequent but openweb issued me a dsl account so we shall see how it goes.

Does openweb.co.za smtp still work or do i need a new one?

Very nice Killa, welcome to the DSLHeaven family, glad to see you converted from VB :D

Was really odd that the "website time out" VB issue also reared its ugly head on your side, guess you were spared longer than the majority of us ;)

I also don't download that much, 80-120GB a month with some Youtube thrown in between and the account runs 100%

Hope yours serve you good as well :)

Maybe a stupid question but here it goes.

I use my line purely for adsl, no telephone. Telkom connected an adsl filter/splitter to my modem, is it necessary to have if I have no telephone and secondly does anyone know if this thing perhaps slows your adsl down?

Nope it's not, it is only there to stop your adsl disconnecting when someone calls but leave it there.

Yea the time out issue has been bad in the last two weeks, cannot cope anymore hey. Something happened to VB, they broke it or something LOL.

VB had an excellent track record until December. Then holidays happened.
