Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

My 1mb uncapped account has been running just fine for about 3 months now. Guess any service business will have its ups and downs
 
Last I heard from openweb was that there was a fault. Today I decided to check my speeds to see if there was any difference. Still none

http://i.imgur.com/cDIEr.png I can barely manage 1KB >_> And of course as always so far, my telkom/afrihost capped accoutns run at 35-40KB's...

Sent an email again. Though if this keeps up I think I might have to switch to another uncapped provider =\ Which Im not so happy about having to do >_> I like openweb..

Not by much sadly. http://i.imgur.com/hlfq6.png <--- thats the normal speed I get when the account is slow. The 0.8 KB's was a rare bad bad bad one. Though by the looks of it. It seems to slightly improve as night time comes. Though even if you're getting full speeds. it doesn't quite explain why my afrihost and telkom are fine ._. So perhaps the account Im on isn't on a good "network/backbone?" Routing wise perhaps..

IS has very impressive latency to Germany too. 209ms in League Of Legends. Thats anything but high.

I'm on Standard 1mb uncapped with IS backbone.
 
Just want to say thanks to MrBeep & Co. for supplying me with wonderful service the past few years at Openweb. I should add that my last month at OpenWeb was the best month to date, where I was on an IS account that didn't give me a single second of problems.

I'm on VB, trying to download an update on Steam. When set to DL from local content servers, it goes at a max of 20kb/s, but when I use international servers, it goes full speed.

That is a lol situation indeed, perhaps the lines are clogged up at the local Steam content servers :D
 
It's just funny, usually VB shapes international stuff pretty badly. :p

Edit: or it could be that all the new content on our local Steam content servers is already being distributed using the new http distribution system Valve is switching over to. I'm dreading the day it goes full http though. My http download speeds on VB have always sucked.

First day with my Gold account, so can someone please advise which is the better backbone for video streaming and nzb's? Also, how do I check which backbone i'm currently using?

To see which backbone you're currently using, go to speedtest.net and check the bottom left hand corner of the main interface. Just beneath your IP address it will either say: Internet Solutions, BCS, Webafrica, Vodacom Business , Altech Technologies Concepts. Any of those is your indicator on which backbone you're on at the moment.

In my opinion, the best backbone for both nzb's and streaming is DSL-Heaven aka Webafrica, so ask MrBeep for a DSL-H account. If you go to speedtest.net and it says "Webafrica" as ISP, then you're on a DSL-H account :)
 
Im so impressed with my 1mb Standard uncapped I got for R169. Using it on my 4meg line gives me 120kbs 24/7 no matter what nzb torrents http its just wow. Can't believe it. IS backbone is the 1 to be on. Thanks openweb loving it. Was on BCS backbone but nzb and torrents are so badly shaped now.
 
I'm loving my new Gold account on the VB backbone - the line has been maxed out for the past 24 hours. My Redafrica account is unusable for downloading during the day, with speeds peaking at 10 KBps.
 
Can someone please help? I started on Sunday, 1st April, with a new Openweb 4mb gold uncapped, on the IS backbone. So far everything has been great, day time browsing is the best its ever been (we had afrihost 4mb uncapped before). Until today, woke up this morning and nothing was working. Went into the router and there was no connection to the server, it was completely dead. Swapped over to a backup account, and the line runs at full speed.

So I have phoned Openweb support 3 times today, on the third time they got back to me. When they eventually called me back, at 16:40, I explained the situation, gave the guy my bank details, AGAIN, and he said he was gonna sort it out. waited an hour and still nothing???

Now its the Easter long weekend, and i have a 2 gig backup afrihost account, of which I have used 1 gig today. Now what? Any help would be appreciated!
