Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

Can someone please help? I started on Sunday, 1st April, with a new Openweb 4mb gold uncapped, on the IS backbone. So far everything has been great, day time browsing is the best its ever been (we had afrihost 4mb uncapped before). Until today, woke up this morning and nothing was working. Went into the router and there was no connection to the server, it was completely dead. Swapped over to a backup account, and the line runs at full speed.

So I have phoned Openweb support 3 times today, on the third time they got back to me. When they eventually called me back, at 16:40, I explained the situation, gave the guy my bank details, AGAIN, and he said he was gonna sort it out. waited an hour and still nothing???

Now its the Easter long weekend, and i have a 2 gig backup afrihost account, of which I have used 1 gig today. Now what? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm having the same problem since last night. My Gold account is completely dead. Authentication with the server takes forever and when the internet/link light is finally on I still don't have any connectivity.

Thanks, all sorted out!

Yay, I'm back to full speed (100KB/s) at 6 pm on a Public Holiday/Easter Friday. Haven't downloaded a thing all week, but I was throttled to 6KB/s throughout the day on everything including my HTTP downloads. Gotta love uncapped :erm:. Thank goodness for capped accounts .

Openweb 1 MB Uncapped ADSL Lite

The Lite accounts are wonderfully fast for browsing, but given the low threshold (from the provider's side), you get shaped in the blink of an eye when crossing that threshold.

This 1 MB uncapped account seems to be shaped. From day one all weekday traffic (including web browsing and email) is throttled to 20KB/s (256kbps) Torrents, HTTP downloads throttled to 1 to 8 KB/s (Didn't download anything during the first week - and mostly use this account on weekends).

And I don't download the internet. I did 40GB last month. My first month. Already running out of things to download. Thank goodness for Afrihost 11GB capped which runs at full speed all the time for everything.

Can some ISP give me a 50GB account for R250 - I will probably average 20GB per month.

The lite accounts are not meant for downloading at all. These accounts are for ouma and oupa to check email and update their statuses on Facebook.

Nope not my experience. Because daytime speeds are throttled to 256kbps, how can that be good for browsing, email, YouTube? I kept my capped account because if this. The only reason I kept this account is because I can download a decent amount. No real throttling after hours. virtually full speed 7 to 7. Thankfully I use the capped account for day time. Though switching the accounts gets old fast.

I'll admit to being an uncapped noob. But if this is the experience with all uncapped products for home, that's quite crap.
What's more scary is the amount of businesses who use these home uncapped services. What are they thinking?

fyi, I don't have an uncapped web surfing account. It's a proper uncapped account. OpenWeb call it lite. Axxess have a monthly capped account called lite, but that runs at full speed for browsing and E-mail

OpenWeb sells 50GB for R398

Hmmmmm so I've been trying out an Openweb 1mb uncapped Silver account and things are depressing to say the least.

My 384k Mweb account is currently delivering better performance (Openweb only hit 10kBs+ after 8pm and is still slower than 384) all-round but what really shocked me is a simple ping to google? 50ms with Mweb, 2500ms with Openweb. Are things always this shakey? Was considering this account for playing GW2 but with that kind of latency I'm frightened.

Hmmm... I am on the Openweb 384 Gold and I have zero problems... it just works.

Maybe email them and see if anything is amiss ?? Or perhaps ask them for a Gold trial ??

Hi guys, Is VB still down (or experiencing problems)? I really hate IS and I want my VB backbone back.

I suddenly got an Authentication Fail on my VB login, Mr Beep told me that VB is having problems and but me on IS.....so is it a regional VB problem? anyone else have a problem (with VB)?
