My BCS is full of crap today. It simply refuses to connect to Steam, and it also refused to connect when I tried to play Lord of the Rings Online earlier today. My Telkom account works fine, though. Connected to both instantly.

Same here...MrBeep, here's to wishing for a restart of the entire BCS network :)

Damn, coming from the near flawless VB network where I had just about no issues for months on end, it sucks that I'm having so many issues with BCS in about a 7 or 8 day timeframe. :(

I logged onto Steam on my Telkom account, then switched to BCS while Steam was running, and Steam is still connected now. Seems to be a login issue. My issue with Lotro is also that I cannot establish a connection to the logon servers, so then it times out and exits the game.

Thanks! Thinking about it, might it be an issue with the lines somewhere between South Africa and North America? Both Steam and LotrO is based out of NA.
 
Seems to be an issue to North America, for some reason. Can't connect to Fallen Earth either, and as far as I know, that's also based in NA.

I came home now and I have been downloading,sorry still downloading a 347 mb file for almost 15 hours .And the torrent is well seeded (an episode that came out this morningS02E05:whistle:)

Yep, absolutely no data transfer between me and North America. Browsing is fine, but anything else is dead.

Really hope this gets sorted because I was hoping to finish downloading a few games on Steam over the weekend.

Yes, but you're using an IS account. I'm on BCS.

I've still got the issue. Unable to log into Steam or Lord of the Rings Online on my BCS. My Telkom and Afrihost accounts work perfectly fine.

Will give it another day and if the issue still persists, I'll send support an email.
 
Anyone having issues on DSL Heaven? Even local downloads are slow, trying to update some PCs via Microsoft Update (which is locally cached) and it is CRAWLING :mad:

I think BCS is experiencing some serious issues. I had very sporadic connection to many of my online services over the weekend, including things like Steam simply not logging in or when they log in, not downloading anything. I got moved to another account yesterday.

Yeah, I've never been totally satisfied with DSL Heaven, and I fail to see the benefit of paying R200pm extra, iirc the accounts are exactly the same as what WA sell. Have Mweb at home and it FLIES in comparison to what I experience on OW's DSL Heaven backbone.

Can anyone comment on a better backbone to ask to be switched to that's just good for standard http traffic? We don't do much more than 40GB a month and we just need solid http and ftp with occasional Youtube/other streaming content. Altech used to be my preferred backbone but that seems to also have gone belly up.

Needs to be fast during office hours, though.

Sounds like all the more premium backbones are going belly up; VB, Altech, BCS. I've been moved to Internet Solutions, and it's currently running really well, but previous experience has taught me that all IS accounts run well at first, then degrade until you get fed up demand a move or cancel. :(

VB was pretty much the best backbone out there. Great speeds during the day, zero degradation of quality over time.
