Which domain are you on? @openweb.co.za or @dslheaven.co.za?

Im on @openweb.co.za, strugling to get more than 50kB/s at this point in time

I'm on @openweb. I hope this isn't just a fluke.

Same here, also on @openweb. 2 Mbps account. Was flying in the early hours of this morning, but it's been around 40 KB/s all day.

Trying to download a game on Steam for the first time in more than a week, and it keeps suspending my download and/or giving other random connectivity issues on Steam. Had to switch to my Mweb account to get the download working. :(

Torrents working

I cannot stream any video or audio at all.

Why do torrents work, yet I can't watch a simple 360p stream?

EDIT: with the exception of locally cached youtube videos.

Upgrade

Hi Guys,

I'm on 1 Mbit Gold Uncapped. Did I see something about a 2 Mbit Gold uncapped special above, or was that for the Standard package only? Any special for 1 Mbit "upgraders" that you know of? :)

Thx

Is anyone experiencing slow speeds on international today? I am on 4m gold IS. Local is fine.

Never mind, Keoma has sorted me out and everything is working great again. Now that was fast service!

I've been having some evil download speed fluctuations. I'm currently on a 1MB silver uncapped but the month before I was on a standard 1MB uncapped.

I noticed it when streaming from Youtube, my speed would drop to as low as 30KBps and jump around and bump up to 100KBps+ again. Does this a lot. :(

PS. this is all after business hours.

I was on 1MB, speeds were excellent, got full speed 90% of the time. Line got upgraded, phoned Telkom, they reset ports, synced at 2MB

I asked to move my account to 2MB. This has been done, but speeds are about the same, if anything it is more erratic and does not seem to be as stable as 1MB. Jumps between 80k and 120k Never reaching 2MB

Any ideas? Or what other backbone can i try?

Hi BlackJack,

Sounds like you are on a faulty port or exchange, or Telkom botched up your upgrade.

Please email [email protected] so that we can investigate

SMTP Settings for the bcs backbone anyone? Can't send OW an email to find out what they are...ironically... :P

I'm on Telkom capped and after my upgrade I'm still finding crap speeds to a lot of sites. This thread interests me as I'm contemplating on taking up the Silver uncapped offering.

Ah Openweb nostalgia, I remember this time last year after the first thunderstorm of the season. Just read the mail I sent Openweb (back when they were still small enough to reply almost immediately to emails) and how after unplugging my modem to avoid the lightning i woke up to an authentication fail, and now the same thing. I wonder why it happens, if Openweb forgets I exist if I unplug for a long time. Strange. Still I hope I get my internet back soon.
