OS X Yosemite - Developer Preview 3

Running on a MacBook Pro with SSD and i7 there is absolutely no difference. I would think that on older laptops without SSD it would be sluggish.

On an i5 MBP 13" late 2011 with a non SSD hard drive, it is actually a little faster for me, especially with the native apps (mostly Safari, Mail and Calendar).

I just had my first phone call via my MacBook. A strange experience :D

Handoff is also working instantaneously, but only from the Mac to my iPhone. Not vice versa.

Had that yesterday, was nifty.

Osx 10.10 Public Beta 3 is available to download.

Busy downloading :D What's new? :)

Only thing I noticed is that "Software Update" from the menu is gone and some icons look prettier and:

New in Developer Preview 8
- New Safari welcome screen
- ‘Show All’ button in Settings app replaced with back, forward and grid buttons
- Weather widget in Notification Center now asks permission to use location data

Just finished installing public 3, and once again the battery icon has changed :D besides the stuff above I don't really see anything new. I must say Safari feeling a bit more responsive.

Is there no handoff functionality yet with iOS8 and pubic beta 3?

I am almost 100% certain that SMS Continuity worked without Bluetooth/Wifi - i.e. in my setup, my MacBook Pro is on Ethernet (Bluetooth and Wifi is off), and the iPhone is on Wifi (Bluetooth is off):

Apple has confirmed that SMS Continuity on iOS 8 will be delayed until October. The feature allows users to send and receive SMS and MMS text messages from an iPad or Mac when an iPhone is within reach. The service relies on both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to function, and essentially expands cross-platform iMessaging to standard text messages.

It keeps getting better with each update. Safari is working properly now. The OS as whole is much more responsive. The only downside I have is the boot up time and VLC crashing.

For me its Viber, still not working for some reason.

I also have slower boot up times. But then again with the SSD it is still so fast it's like saying a Porsche is slower than a Lamborghini :p
